![]() I know this topic has been discussed before, about searching for a recent highly popular song and getting back tons of useless, corrupt T3 or Higher choices, often exclusively, with no other Cable/DSL peers showing up on the search list. Looking through past threads about this, I see that a suggestion was made back in 2004 to implement a filter for these, one that would allow you to choose just Cable/DSL and/or T1, but no T3Highers. If this has been implemented, I'm not yet finding it in my Preferences choices. Does anyone know the status on this? Better still would be some sort of detection code in the download/upload program that detects and pre-screens out all corrupted files, but that would be pretty high-tech or expensive, I guess. Also, does anyone know who these people are that are uploading all these corrupt files, and, more importantly, why they bother? What idiot has nothing better to do with his time than post a bunch of corrupt files, just to frustrate us? If it's to plant some adware or virus on the computer, so far nothing like that has ever appeared on my Mac after attempting one of these corrupt files, so what's the deal? |

I also don't agree with T3 sources being banned. I know of other T3 users & they share a lot of very good files. It's just that presently, these corrupt files seem to come from computers set up with T3 connections to spam the network with these files. And besides, if a T3 filter was brought in, these people may change to a different connection type/setting.

![]() Thanks for the reply Grandpa. I don't know what a Bitz search is or how to do that. Could you advise? I also can use some common sense to see when a T3 is listed 50 times in different file sizes, even though all the bit-rates are the same, obviously someone's lying out there! However, when those false T3's take up the whole search-return list, as often happens, that leaves you with nothing to DL. Example: this AM, tried to download hit single off brand new *** CD, every single file listed was a T3Higher, no honest choices available, so common sense kinda useless. If all those corrupt files weren't there, there'd be room for possible Cable/DSL or T1 non-corrupt ones, but no, these idiot spammers taking up all the space! You didn't respond to the other part of my query, who and why these spammers. Perhaps you don't know. ![]() Who do you think would want to prevent people downlding music they should be buying. It takes very simple imagination. The music & film industry forced the government in some countries to put a levy on blank tapes, cd-r's & dvd-r's. With that money supposedly to help make up for loss of income from potential sales. Music is not usually on the Bitzi database but it may be starting to grow in size. How to use Bitzi Web Lookup ...

![]() Newer thing usually take a while to show up that is the nature of things. It is a perfect opportunity for spammer's and virus spreaders to get their wares out. What better way than to rely on human greed and inpatients. Once again a little common sense goes a long way. |

![]() OK, I get it, so it's not some hackers with too much time on their hands flooding these corrupt files, but rather a well-organized network of over-peers working for the music biz. Fair enough. I wasn't lacking in imagination, LOR, just didn't realize there were official corrupt-file-proliferating companies yet, or that record labels would pay for such a service. I suppose, then, that that are few other suggestions about how to get a list of real, non-corrupt files to show up. It also makes me a little wary about continued downloading, if companies who are payed specifically to thwart downloading are also constantly viewing the names and computer addresses of the peers who are using this network. Could lead to having more of us reported and busted. |
