![]() Hi Everyone~ I downloaded LimeWire last week and was immediately hit with virus alerts. I have uninstalled the program and removed the LimeWire folder contents but am still having some major problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! #1. Although I did not download anything, my Norton scan took nearly 7 hours last night going through just about every DVD screener known to man. There were thousands and my security detected about 50,000 virus risks. My question is this: Where can I find these files on my computer so I can get rid of them? I have searched everywhere to no avail. I also tried to clean up the hard drive and perform defragmentation, but it kept freezing up as soon as the first movie file came up. It did state that about 30,000 was in quarantine but I can not even enter that. #2. When Norton was finished, it refered me to a page that said: "W32.Alcra.D is a worm that spreads through the Limewire file-sharing network. It attempts to disable several programs and drop a W32.Spybot.Worm variant on the compromised computer. Type: Worm Infection Length: 380,928 bytes Systems Affected: Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP Number of infections: 0 - 49 Number of sites: 0 - 2 Geographical distribution: Low Threat containment: Easy Removal: Easy Sorry for the long post but I am at a roadblock as to what to do next. I just want to get rid of all these files ASAP and purge my computer of any file sharing. Thanks again!! --bsbkitty |

![]() Run your scanner at least a couple of times to make sure all the infested files got cleaned. Uninstall that limewire and start fresh again once you have let your anti virus clearner double check your hard drive for any other infested files. |

![]() Just one dumb question you say you did not download anything. If you did not download anything then how did you get the virus are you saying that it came in LimeWire. If so where did you get your version of LimeWire did you use a different P2P program like BearShare and download it from the Gnutella net. If you got LimeWire from the official site there is no way it came with a virus in it. You can get LimeWire at the link below it is the official site. But you must use a little common since when downloading files from the net. Read some of the stickies on viruses and rules to follow when downloading from the net. There are allot of viruses out there so beware. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml |
