Files flagged as hidden?

Most of the videos I download are automatically flagged as hidden for some reason. In the library section of Limeware, they show up as red. They play fine in limewire, and if I tell windows to display hidden files, they show up. They work fine, they're just hidden by default. What gives?

From a previous thread, someone was trying to share hidden files of .... an adult nature ... which he did not want others using his PC to know about. Perhaps you have managed to get one of these, although it had seemed that he was unable to share hidden files on Limewire (I'm not quite sure if the question got fully answered)

This is just a thought and the answer may be something totally different. and I trust you will not take offence if the files you refer to are not adult ones! :)

This was the thread I reffered to : http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...dden+and+files

That would make sense, but the all I'm downloading are AMV's. An AMV is an Animated Music Video. Basically, people takes clips of animated movies or CG scenes from video games like Final Fantasy, splice them together and set the whole thing to music.

Yes, it's incredibly geeky, but some of them come out quite nicely.

Oddly enough, considering what you said, the Final Fantasy VII-based video that I downloaded, which then turned out to be Peurto-Rican porno (what the heck is WRONG with people? You want to share porn, fine, I'm not about judging you, but for God's sake, don't label it something that a kid is likely to search for!).

edit: went off on a tagent and didn't finish my sentance. The mis-labeled porno was NOT flagged as hidden.

Thanks for the intro to AMVs I shall check them out

Why people put up files with totally the wrong titles is beyond me. I think the thing escalates because some one might download a missnamed file, share it for a few weeks, until he gets round to watching it, and whatever he does next probably forgets to remove or relabel the file .. and so another faulty file hits the network:(
