pretty sure that said icon means that is a file you have already downloaded |
by default you will be sent an e-mail with a link to this thread if there is a reply. That is how it works. and every one benefits from Peerlesses correct reply. |
ok, so does that mean that when there is a broken white box, that the download was NOT successful? also, how can you tell the amount of people that have downloaded that song successfully? and just one more thing, do you download from the same speed as your connection, or doesn't it matter? |
Download Speed Bubblybubbles Your download speed depends on several factors: 1) Your connection speed 2) The amount of traffic on the internet (just like a road, the more traffic you have the slower your progress) 3) The quality of the line where your download has to travel through, e.g. if your download is coming from, say, a rural area in Russia where the quality of line is old and outdated then you will have a slower download. 4) The distance your download is coming from, i.e. I live in the UK and I have found that my downloads from Germany are a lot faster than those from Japan. 5) And above all, the upload speed of the client you are downloading from, if the PC you are downloading from has a modem connection then, no matter what you do, you will always download at a very slow speed. I have a 2MB broadband connection which, for some reason, connects at 2.2Mbs and I get download speeds ranging from 0Kbs (so slow LW doesn't even register it) to anything upto 2000+ kbs. There are other factors that govern your download speed but I think I have covered the major ones, unless another forum member says differently. UK Bob |
1 Attachment(s) Broken icon means the file was cancelled. No. of stars represents your chances of a connection to downld that file. The # column shows how many people were found in your search to be hosting that same file. See the following link & follow “ALL” the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help solve your problem: To continue files downlding (click on link) |

You cannot tell how many, if any, people have downloaded that song successfully. If however 20 people are sharing EXACTLY the same file, it is likeley it originally came from the same source. This does not however mean that any of those 20 copies are neccessarily any good :) If you have a cable DSL connection it does not matter if you download from a Modem or a T3. Speed will vary though as Bobboy explained. |
