when i have downloaded a film it plays with flashing green can i stop it ? help please

Sounds like a codec issue. BTW get a backup player for cases like this. I'd recommend VLC as it has in-built codecs & you'll find a link for it here: CODECs list and alternate players for Movies & also get GSpot as it will tell you which codec you need.
