Don't get confused between your isp speed & the speed LW shows. isp's quote speed in kilo bits per second (kbps) whereas LW quotes speed in Kilo Bytes per second (KB/s) To get a true indicator of your speed do a speed test. Choose one nearest you http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/speedtest/ & if speed is quoted in kbps then divide it by 8 to give KB/s. Generally you'll lose about 20% overhead quoted by isp's & divide that by 8. But that doesn't answer why your downld speeds are slow. Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) Can you answer these questions: 1. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 2. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 3. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 4. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 5. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)? 6. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 7. After LW's been open at least 15 mins, do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False? BTW I would highly recommend this: See the following link & follow “ALL” the off-shoot links to find hints & extra skills to help solve your problem: To continue files downlding (click on link)

I edited your address b/c it's not a good idea to post it on a public forum for safety reasons. I'm not sure if that's a legitimate static address or not. When you did your port forwarding, did you do a separate port forwarding for both TCP & UDP. This is generally recommended rather than choosing both in the single port forward. If you couldn't connect via port 80, then there's a chance your isp is blocking it. You'd need to ask their permission to unblock it. AFAIK Singnet is not a known isp that blocks gnutella ports or filters/shapes/blocks p2p users. Which doesn't mean they don't do it. I'd suggest you recheck your static ip instructions & even redo it. Then do the port forwarding again. Are you using windows XP? If you are, I hope you disabled the XP firewall, & configured the Zonealarm firewall as per the link I gave above.

First 192.168.xxx.xxx addresses are private, no need to protect them. Nasuki: your problem for speed is not that you are firewalled. Being unfirewalled helps, but you can get 100KB/s easily firewalled with the firewall to firewall transfers in LW. So is your ISP limiting P2P traffic? Are you connecting at your home, university or work? (the latest two often limit dl and upload speed of P2P apps) Try Bearshare lite, if it is faster, prob is LW. http://www.bearshare.com/lite/ Also try Ares galaxy, might not be limited by your ISP/config http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/ Ciao

Bearshare might be better for you. I use Lite and it works great. I got cable broadband and my speed seems to be 20k on a normal day. I dont think you need to reconfig anything, thats pretty much how cable speed is these days. 10-20k in Limewire a little higher in Bearshare. Cable isnt as speedy as everyone thinks.
