hmmm ... Do music files from sources other than Limewire play ok through their respective players?

Also have you tried downloading a magnetmix file from http://magnetmix.com/audio2.shtml ? If you go to download one of these it should download through Limewire.

I downloaded Bearshare and experienced the same problem. My IT guy said maybe it's something to do w/ our new ISP. Is that possible or is he just jerkin' my chain?

That would be a possibility. Why I'm not sure. It could be due to line packet loss. Or they might be applying something that affects files they suspect are copyright sharing. Well that really does say something if it also happens to BS. I did read some time back some isp's were considering ways to stop p2p sharing (ie: where it applied to copyright material.)

Yeah. Thing about it is that he was trying to download a file from Symantec and he couldn't. He had to plug in a Sprint wireless card in order to get it downloaded and placed on the network. What a joke.

Default Office Network

31K

Looking through this old thread I just realised that you have not mentioned anything about the PC system or network you are using, i.e. you have told us nothing yet you expect us to "crystal ball" you an answer.

However, I notice an important clue in your last post:

So, I guess you are using your office network.

Lak377

Likewise, you also have not bothered to say anything about your system, so maybe "astral projection" will work:

And if I am right, you too are using an office network.

So 31K and Lak377, if I am correct, your office network is probably using a server strenght anti-virus application which pulls apart and rebuilds everything that enters the network. However, if it finds anything that it thinks is dangerous or against office policy then your office AV will delete it and possibly try to rebuild what is left, hence your repeating 5 seconds of music.

Now, if you had metioned you were using your office network before you would have got the answer a lot sooner.

So, do you have4 an answer for this, or just a sly remark, cause... I don't see an answer on how to fix this, considering that I am the administrator for my job I have access to changing what ever needs to be changed.

Well Administrator Kimojava

If you are an Administrator, especially an IT Administrator, you will know that you have to temporarily disable your organisation's anti-virus protection, which should be obvious to you.

However, you do lay your place of work open to all sorts of internet borne attacks; do you really think it is worth it for a few songs?

Therefore, the real answer to your problem is to install LW on your home computer and not in your work place because it is just too dangerous, all your works’ computers could be compromised, your work colleagues futures could be put in jeopardy and you could loose your job.

So, do you still think my answers are “sly”?

My computer is on a dedicated line, made for this purpose. I did not mean to upset you. I do feel that you are being harsh with words is all I meant. Also, I hire and fire...

Thank you for answering my question though. Just because I am the Administrator, does not mean that I am a computer wizard such as yourself.
