The icon at the bottom of Limewire shows I have a firewall. I disabled the only 2 firewalls I have (Windows firewall and McAfee) but it still shows that I have a firewall.

Another question...does having a firewall block other users from uploading my files?

Also, my connection quality shows 5 green bars if that helps.

Thoughts anyone?

You have not given much info to go on and some forum members tend to leave such meager requests for help alone.

I'll just ask one question, have you got any other protective software on your computer that LW may mistakingly think is a firewall?

Back when I had LW Pro 4.9.28 (a pretty bad release) it thought PeerGuardian 2 was a firewall, mind you it was the only release that behaved in this way.

yes i too have that icon saying limewire has detected a firewall, but i have put it through the firewall in xp, i can download and upload but still for me, don't know if it is still causing a problem, my bars at bottom show turbo, so not too sure, why would it be detecting a firewall when i have allowed it through the firewall,
xp sp2, no other firewall on comp, only norton antivirus, and pretty sure that ain't got one, not that i'm aware

Hmm...well I do have Ad-aware and SBC Anti-spy...but those don't really run in the background; they're simply scanners.

I just noticed for the first time an upload coming through, although it only got to 40% its an unload none the less

Hehe, one more question...it seems that even with a firewall deteted I am able to download (and sort of uplaod) just fine. But, I have tried chatting with over 15 people and none of them answered. Unless I just got some rude people, could my firewall be blocking chat even though it doesn't block downloads (and "sorta" uploads)?
