My download speed
 

Just starting downloading this week, but it seems very slow.

I have a 56k modem and the fastest I can download at is 7 KB/s, with the average being 5 KB/s.

Is this normal?

What can I expect the speed to be, to download one file?

"56k" should actually be 56 kbps.

kbps is kilobits per second.

7KB/s is actually 7 kiloBYTES per second

so, since there are 8 BITS in a BYTE

your downloads are going as fast as they can :)
