Download limit doesnt read my conection correctly?

Hey all, just a query more than a problem.
If I try to limit my download bandwidth ( say 10% ) so I can surf a bit quicker Limewire wont allow it. On the slider it go's from 100% to 43k/s. I have 1 mb connection and get 130K/s I want to limit it to say 110-120 K/s So why does it bring it right down to 43?

Cheers Guys

Thanks for the smile ;)

Re the ranges: they are set by the connection type. Set to modem, and you'll get a vey different range than when set to T3.

verdyp posted a detailed description of the ranges a while back at http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...idth#post87724

I don't think those numbers have changed much with recent versions, but in any case, it gives the general idea

cheers :)

Bandwidth throttle

Hi, and thanks
But that doesn't answer my question, nor does the link.
On my bandwidth throttle when I go down from 100% to 90% it shouldn't limit my bandwidth from 130K/s to 40K/s it should reduce it by 10% ie. 117K/s
I need to know why it is erroneously reading my bandwidth. As on max it gives me 43K/s up 43K/s down.
It a small problem, but makes my browser slow..!

Cheers

oh--you're asking about the "%" . Sorry, I thought you were asking about the range limits, which are thoroughly explained by the link.

The % is, I vaguely recall, some way of setting the percent of the predetermined range. It makes sense to the coders.

To avoid lag with other internet activities, I set at 85% of my tested upstream speed.

The slider display also doesn't react quickly to changes in the connection speed settings (old settings might be displayed, but when the slider is used, surprisingly change to the new range).
