Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. Limewire says "Disk Problem" after download, but disk ok. I too am getting the error message "Disk Problem" When I try to download a song. I am getting this on all the PC internal disks which are fullish. However I also have a new external USB had drive which is 160gb and has 129gb space. When I try to defrgament the drive I get an eror message saying that "G:Volume Infomation\-restore3244474774839209 etc is corupt! hen I try and find this file it is not findable and the file does not exist anywhere on the PC. So even though I am trying to download Limewire songs to this drive and it has plenty of space I am still getting "Disk Problem" ???????????? Laurence. |

Laurence (LFinestone) I use external drives to download to and share files with the LW community, if you are getting "Disk Problem" errors on an external with 129GB free then obviously something is wrong. I've got a few (silly) questions to ask, you have not supplied much info, so here goes: 1) Can LW see your external drive, i.e. via Tools/Options have you made LW aware of your ex HD. 2) Have you formatted your external using NTFS as your prefered filing system? 3) Have you partitioned your external? 4) Have you created any Directories/Folders on your external? 5) I presume you are an XP user? 6) Are you running USB2 or 1.1? 7) Are your drive letters correct, i.e. each letter is allocated to a single drive and not one letter to 2 or more drives? 8) Is your external constantly on or do you switch it on and off when you switch your PC on and off? 9) How old is your drive? That's enough for now, I may have some supplementaries later on. UK Bob |

Hi Bob, Thanks very much for your reply to my problem. Personaly, I do not think your questions are silly, certainly not for a moderate understander of PC's Anyway here are my ansewers and some other stuff: 1) Yes LW sees the drive and where to store music files/ 2) Yes the drive is formatted to NTFS 3)The drive is partitioned 4)Yes the are directories on the drive. 5)Yes, I am XP 6)I am running USB 2 7)Drive letters are correct 8)I switch the external drive off when I switch the PC off 9)The drive is new (3 weeks) and is 160mg and there is 129mg available. It's a Western Digital. Now I have been having some minor problems with the PC doing strange stuff. It often stops doing things and sometimes will not connect to AOL. I f I restart the PC it works ok. I tried to defragment the external drive to see if that would help. When I clicked on "Defragment "G" drive ( the external drive) I just get the following error message: "Disk Defragmenter cannot continue Defrag because there is corruption in file: G:\system volume information\_restore{3405xxxxxxx}RP621." I have tried to find this file to see if I can do anything with it but if I search fo the file I cannot find it on G drive or anywhere in the PC? Laurence. |

Laurence It's clear to me, from your answers, that your external drive is working properly and that you have set it up correctly. However, from your answers, I have two more questions: a) What size is the smallest partition on your external drive? b) How old is your PC? Now, I believe, from the error message you are getting, that your PC's motherboard could be going wrong. Simply because when defragging your external drive you should not get an error message and the process should be over quite quickly because a three week old drive would not need that much defragging, even if you used it 24/7 since you installed it. One other thing that may help, check that you have allowed XP to index the ex HD because that will help speed up the finding of your files (see screen print below). UK Bob |

Disk Problem. Hi Bob, Thanks, I am not sure what the partition size on the external drive is and the PC is over 4 years old, It's a gateway with a pentium 3 prcessor. But the problem is certainly not the externaql drive. I have been thinking that the Motherboard is up the creek for several weeks as it is doing some starnge things and each time I turn it off I get an error message saying that I can click on it to shut down at once or let it finish what it is doing. So I beleive the only soution will be to get a new PC or a new Motherboard for this PC! Strange, because I have been able to save mp3 files from LW to the new disk and have had the "Disk Problem" message before. This suddenly stopped and I could download fine for about 3 weeks and then the error message came back again. But thanks for your help which I really appreciate. Laurence. |

disk problem hi, i don't know if this will help but i also get disk problem errors occasionally and i just thought i'd share with you what i did last time (today in fact!) the file got to 100% but was saying disk problem (of course!) so i went to 'explore' and it took me to the incomplete folder where it was stored. the file was there- i had to extract the RAR files and i just cut the extracted avi file and put it in another folder- i then deleted the 'incomplete' file (which was actually complete!) and cancelled it from limewire. the avi file plays perfectly (haven't tried burning yet) i think even if the 'incomplete' file had already contained an avi or wma or mp3 file that i could still have cut/paste to another folder and it would have played so maybe try that? unless you're getting the error message at 2% complete in which case it won't! hope that helps! |

I have looked at everything you have suggested to get rid of the "disk problem" I have but I still cannot get rid of it. There is no problem with disk availability (150G available), all software is updated regularly, I do defrags nightly on a schedule. All other downloads continue to run perfectly daily but I just can't seem to rid this one file with the problem. Any other suggestions? |
