Most likely you have a codec issue. Get GSpot so it will tell you which codec you need. Also get VLC (in-built codecs) as a backup player as it's very reliable. CODECs list and alternate players for Movies

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I have it sorted for now, it was an icon on the monitor that one of the kids had pressed by mistake.
Maybe you could tell me something else, i have downloaded a few films but when I watch them thay are either not complete, not what I thought or even some porno. I read on a post a film needs to be 700mb long is this true for all films or could they shorter. Its really terrible being new to all this.

It depends on the length of video & also how it's been converted. Some videos are converted to fit onto a single CD (ie: 650-700 MB size.) Whereas some are split into 2 or 3 parts. Obviously those ones have less compression & should have better quality.

But there is a chance one could be smaller. Either it's been compressed too heavily/much or for eg. it's a tv episode or something which has a shorter length.

See if the name says anything about part 1 or A or I or similar within it's name. Re-search the video to see if you can find any that are parts & not the whole video. I haven't heard of movies deliberately cut short without there being other parts on offer. Many movies come from Shareaza (RAZA) users who can be difficult to connect to. So the person you got it from might either be a raza user or they themselves are still trying to get the other parts.

Make sure your player has the ability to play the whole video. Sometimes players will give up half-way thru due to the poor encoding or due to lack of correct codecs. Get GSpot to tell you which codec you need for that video & VLC (in-built codecs) as a backup player. See CODECs list and alternate players for Movies
