Default I Do Want to Share - Honest

Until recently, I was sharing 2500 music files, and there was a lot of upload traffic showing on my monitor screen.

Suddenly, nothing. All the 'hits' and 'uploads' figures disappeared from my library listing and no one seemed to be accessing my stuff.

Then I noticed that the Shared File Count in the bottom bar was reading 0. There were still 2500 files in the shared folders in the library, but apparently whatever calculates the number for the taskbar can't see them.

In Options, I checked the path to the relevant shared folder. Fine. Just to be sure, I removed it and added it again. I checked the shared extensions - also fine. I checked the upload bandwidth and slots. Fine too.

I have Zone Alarm running, but it was running before. I'm having no trouble searching or downloading.

So I must have nudged a switch somewhere by mistake, I guess. Any ideas?

Hmmm . When you look at the shared files in your library are they in red or black, and have you let LW run for a decent time to allow the shared folders to load up

Which exact version of Limewire are you using.

I'm thinking perhaps your prefences folder has got damaged, and you may need to delete it with Limewire totally closed. Then you will need to reconfigure, and your incomplete downloads may well be lost (possibly)

I deleted and regenerated the preferences file and everything's okay now. Thank you.

For the edification of future generations: the entries in the shared folder were all red, and remained red however long I left the application running. For hours, in fact. I'm using 4.9. 29 Pro.

So, problem solved, and I'm grateful. But I'm still curious as to what caused it.

Thanks for letting us know that you are up and sharing again. Computers are complicated things ... especially those windows ones ... and any number of things can occasionally damage something like a preference folder. I don't know if you will ever find the cause, but if you get the problem again, you will know what area to look in. Let's hope you don't have to

If the files turn red in your shared folder, it DOES mean they are not being shared. Normally they stay red for a few minute after Limewire starts, until each is loaded and it turns black.

I have just formatted my HDD and now that I have reinstalled limewire it seems to be playing tricks.

Everytime it loads up i can't share anything.
I have to delete the folders i share and reselect them however, this only seems to work for my music folder, all the other ones are staying in 'red'.

i am running windows xp with limewire 4.8.1pro... the reason why i am using such an old version, is because even though i have a 3.2GHz with 1024 RAM, the lastest limewire program slow my computer down to rediculous levels!!!
