How to up-load to i-Tunes then to iPod I can get my videos to transfer to iTunes, but now they won't upload to the iPod? Can anyone help?! |
i have the same problem. |
This is new territory! Can you load other videos and are they the same file type? Does iTunes give an error message when you try to load onto iPod and does audio load ok? Are you on Windows or Mac? I don't know a lot about the Video iPod, but I'm sure yours won't be the only such questions. |
The files are mpeg, and mpg. And I am on windows.. And I can get the audio files just fine.. its just the video thats having the problem going to the ipod. I get an error messege saying the file can not play on this ipod.. when it is the new ipod that can play videos. Now I think I may have to change the format.. it I can.. I don't know. |
It might be worth having a look at the Apple discussion forums for the 5th generation iPod. As it is reasonably hard to finf:D this is the link: http://discussions.info.apple.com/we...lr.0@.68bba16b |
Someone suggested to me it needs to be AVI format. But I just tested it .. & the only ones to import were mpg music videos. |
iPod H.264 video format. and mpeg 4 seem to be the preferred formats for the ipod although it seems other ones will go onto iTunes. I am not keen to get iTunes 6 as Daughters mini iPod at last works .. just ..... with iTunes 5 and I don't want to break the string of good luck. so I'll let you mess with iTunes 6 LOTR:D |
1 Attachment(s) Sorry I was talking about iTunes 6, but if you have the video compatible iPod with the latest software then this should also apply. For iTunes I got the following as below example (But I think O.A.H. is on the track since he's quoting directly from the apple forums!) |
LOTR said "Sorry I was talking about iTunes 6" who you talkin' to LOTR :D ? :):) (I'm keeping iTunes 5 and I don't have a video iPod) |
ipod video Do you think apple would tell us how to do this? I would think they would not because they would want you to buy the videos from them. I was on download.com to see if they had software to do it, I think they do, but I don't understand the web-site and how to get it, if I am even looking at the right thing. It's metroconversions.com. |
1 Attachment(s) angeladcoleman your question is already answered if you saw the links that Only A Hobo left in his post. All the ones I imported were mpeg. But I'm experimenting for iTunes rather than iPod! But apparently there's several formats that can be used (excluding most if not all avi.) |
format I was able to get one video in itunes but not yet on my ipod. Also I spent $30 last night on software that is supposed to change the format for your ipod "videora ipod converter" and I can't figure it out. So I can still use HELP. It is appreciated. Also, I wanted to download from Limewire, but I don't know how to convert them from there either. |
Neither Only A Hobo or I have a visual iPod. Mine's a shuffle, my partner's a larger one but still no visual. It might be an idea if you ask on the iTunes/iPod forum & then post back about their responses so it can help others who have the same query. Keep in mind there's specific sections on that forum for iPod windows, iPod for mac, iTunes for windows, iT. for mac, etc. iPod Forum (click on link) As I suggested earlier, all my video clips were mpg's. At least a few of those were supposed to be mpeg1 according to one program utility but I have doubts. But apparently iPod is a little more fussy than iTunes from what I can gather from the links I read from OAH. Ah I did find this thread http://forums.ipodlounge.com/showthr...hreadid=128658 which suggests there's already lots of threads about the topic. So follow the smell of importing videos on their forum. Quote from apple discussion: To use Videora iPod Convertor to convert movies for use on your iPod, consult these helpful links: To get started: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/ If you have questions: http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/guides.html If you have more questions, post them here: http://www.pspvideo9.com/forums/index.php?c=8 Download and use Videora iPod Convertor. It's a different program than Videora (and removes most of the options that are currently confusing you with Videora). Note that Videora iPod Convertor is a 3rd party program. If you need help with it, post your question there. Thanks, I finally figured out how to use videora to convert the formats and get the videos to my ipod. It took a few days playing around, but I got it. |
Nero didnt work? Hi there zimer... I downloaded(and recieved update on nero pro, $29.95 version) and used nero reocde 2...then I imported a limewire music vid file, added it, then pressed burn...saved it, then dragged anddropped it and I also tried importing file with the same results...it finally transferred to my ipod, but the file did not transfer properly and I can barely see the video? is there some setting I need to press to get the proper video transfer..i even tried running a second pass with no imporvement in the vid quuality? I even tried 2 other videos with the exact same poor results..I assume it must be with some setting when it transfers tot he mpeg4 file? thanks for your help Joe |
Use Nero Recode, choose "Recode DVD/Videos to Nero Digital". Go to afterdawn.com and look guides or search "ipod". Yes, settings must be set to work. If I look videos, I always look for mpg or mpeg. I converted "Madagascar" and several other Music videos. Entire Guide is listed on afterdawn.com If no luck, message me and I will find for you. Zimer :) |
Hi again Hi zimer... thanks so much for your help ! when I go to "afterdawn.com", and find the codes for the ipod..then what? where do I install them or whatever? I apologize fro being so simple about it, but my computer savy isnt the best(but getting better allt he time). I do download only mpg pr mpeg vids also..so it should be easy? thnaks again Joe |
There are no codes to install. Go to guides and search for "Ipod". Here's what I have: Open Recode2 Click "Recode Video Files To Nero Digital" (4th option) Click Import Files on the right Go down the list and select file (where you saved the mpeg/mpg file) Click add file Click More at bottom left In drop-down box to bottom right "nero digital profile" select portable (meaning ipod) Unselect Fit to target Click next BURN -------- Click Nero Digital Settings to the left Then check the box Expert Mode Encode method "High quality encoding - 2 pass Quality/Speed, select Extra quality in performance/quality box Advanced, check simple profile box Click burn. Depending version of Recode, menu/boxes will differ. I tried above on Recode2, was able to burn "Madagascar", Music video etc. Give this a try or send me your email address I can send the guide what I found from afterdawn.com. Zimer  |
so can anybody help me convert my music videos and episodes to the proper size in order to play on my ipod?My videos are mpeg and mpg and my episodes are all avi.Can somebody tell me what software I need to download in order to convert these?Thx. |
Zimer with nero u can convert to the right format for your ipod vid? like if i download a movie from limewire will nero change my format to the ipod 1? |
I guess aim to download mpeg/mpg & hope it's mpeg 4. As quoted from the iPod forum: "your movies have to be in Mpeg-4 or H.264 format" So if you aim for mpeg at least it will increase your chances for automatic acceptance rather than having to convert an avi file. Since all those I imported as suggested earlier were in fact mpeg4 despite an incorrect reading by a graphic converter (older version I hadn't updated!) So chances are if it's a music video clip, it will already be mpeg 4. For movies, you should aim for mpeg unless you have a converter or you have enough sources to downld mpeg. If not, then get avi but consider what you'll need to do to convert it. Think ahead! If you downld an alternative format then you'll obviously need to convert it if you want to play it on your video capable iPod. Don't forget to see the lower section of page 1 here How to transfer music to my iPod (& iTunes) |
