nearly half of the video downloads I do flicker and jump.
Sound is perfect, but picture is poor
Is this possible a downloading problem rather than a problem with the original source?
Is it possible that in downloading from multiple hostas, not all sections of the download align properly?
What could I check in limewire settings to try and rectify the problem?

It's unlikely to be all the video files' fault. I'd tend to think you have a codec issue. Get GSpot so it will tell you which codec you need. Also get VLC (in-built codecs) as a backup player as it's very reliable. CODECs list and alternate players for Movies
