upload I see people uploading from a folder that I have not authorized to be available for uploading. Any ideas why? |
Check your Library window as this will list your shared folders. Also check your settings: LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Sharing |
unauthorized uploads I do not have this folder listed (approved) for uploads and people are uploading from it! I know how to use tools>options>sharing. This folder is not on the list. I tried deleting one item in my "Library" to see if it would also delete it from my hard disk and not only did it delete from my hard disk, it did not put it in my recycle bin so the file is now lost forever. This program is not safe or private. |
You are not the first to delete items from your library and you will not be the last WHY CAN THIS NOT BE SORTED!!!!!!!! I'm sorry about losing your files. It is a dire failing in the design of Limewire. As for the uploads. The files you say were being uploaded. ... Were these files ones you had just downloaded, or even were part downloaded, in which case this is normal, but can be dissabled, or were they from a totally different part of your drive, with extentions you would not normally share.???? I also wonder if you have a "Clean" version of Limewire ... Where did you get it from, and how much did you pay for it? Also do you run up to date virus AND spyware protection programmes. |
I believe I got this copy limewire.com. What's happening is this. I was using a particular folder for downloads. I then created a new, empty folder and started using that one. I went into Options>sharing> and deleted the one that was full and entered the new one. When I checked, I could still see people uploading from the folder I had removed from the list. That's it! ?????? Thanks, rich |
I think maybe you have to restart limewire for the change to take effect ... just a guess for now ..... does that help .. zzzzz ...must sleep. |
You probably already checked this but just incase you didn't... make sure that the "share finished downloads" option in Tools>Options>Sharing is not checked (disabled). I remember reading that if it is checked (enabled) then even if you move a file you've downloaded to an unshared folder the file will remain shared. If it is a file you didn't download than this obviously wouldn't apply, but it is something to try if you haven't already. To be honest I don't remember where I read that and I don't really have time to sit and look for it. That said, if I've mixed something up or gotten bad information I hope that someone will correct me and more importantly I appologize for misleading you. --Cr|cket |
