Hello. I wanted to know what does "Awaiting Sources," means. When I see this, I click on resume and it puts the file as connecting, but then I get the same message above. I upgraded my version to PRO, and thought this was not going to happen as often as it did when I had basic.

Any recommendations??

It depends on so many things. It depends on your sources (the hosts you're downlding from), your bandwidth capabilities, how many files you're downlding simultaneously, how many hosts you're connected to & how much bandwidth they have available for you, etc. Try if possible, to stick to downlding from those with 3 or 4 stars as this represents your chances of a successful & reliable connection to them. Also the more sources under the # column lets you know you're downlding from more than one person. The more the better. So if you have a choice, choose the one that looks the easier to connect to. If there's lots of sources, then next time you connect (if you haven't finished downlding the file), you should have a reasonable chance of reconnecting & continuing the downld. Remember, the search button is better than the find sources/resume function. You will have a better chance of finding new sources as people come & go offline all the time. Periodic searches for the same file can sometimes add new sources to your downld. Also, browsing someone who has the file can help the file to continue should it have stalled b/c that person will be connected to others who have the same file (possibly) & that person's uplds may have started showing more bandwidth to other people rather than your slot. I hope that makes sense.

Browsing is not a perfect tool because it hasn't been updated for quite some time & depends on a no. of factors.

To use it, right-click the person you're downlding from & choose Browse. It's more successful if you do this in the downld window rather than the search results window. Make sure you have chat enabled as this makes it easier for you & them to browse (I don't know why!) Also, right-click the top of the downld window column heading & choose to show chat. This will introduce a new column that shows little happy smilie suns or faces for those people who have chat enabled. Though these users are always easier to browse, you may also be able to browse those who don't have it enabled or it doesn't show in that column. When you browse someone, you can also get their ip. With their ip, you can use that to attempt to direct connect to them on another day should they have more files you're interested in or just want to recontinue a file downlding. Ignore ip's that start with 192 as you'll never or rarely be able to direct connect with them.

The main issues about Browsing (& direct connecting) are: both you & them need to have available both upld & downld slots & bandwidth. If you or them are too busy or there's no free slots then browsing might not work. But even if it doesn't work 1st time, try again a little later. Trying later may even get more results even if you do succeed the 1st time.

I forgot to mention that firewalls can play a part also. So if they' have properly configured firewalls, then that will make it easier to browse (& DC.)
