Default Bitrate Importance

I am somewhat new with LimeWire, and this is probably my 2nd or 3rd comment. From reading back through messages, I have learnt to avoid T1 and especially T3 to avoid ads and spam.

I am unsure how important it is to show the bitrate? I like to rest the mouse on a song name for details/confirmation that the song is from the source (c.d.) I am hoping for. But if there is no bitrate, there is no info.

Does no bitrate matter at all?

Thanku

There seems to be more than one reason for this if the bit rate doesn't show under the bit rate column in the search results. There seems to be a couple of gnutella client programs where the bit rate doesn't transform across properly in the hashing of the file. There's also some types of files such as ogg (Ogg Vorbis) which don't always show bit rates. And lastly, there's a no. of files shared that don't show bit rate & are unplayable. I don't have a clue why. So in this last case it can make a big difference.

BTW unfortunately not everybody adds id3 tags to songs. So you have to go on face value. However, their bit rate should still show under the bitrate column of the search results.

If you're a windows user, * Good tagging tools: http://massid3lib.sourceforge.net/ I haven't tried it, but been told that even on your desktop all you need to do is hover your mouse cursor over the top of the song & the id3 tag will display similar to how it does in LW. So you can very quickly determine which song files have id3 tags or not, & if also whether their id3 tags are correct/accurate/complete or not. And make appropriate adjustments.

If you use mac OS, I'd recommend Media Rage/MP3 Rage for tagging & checking tags depending on whether you use OS X or earlier.
