downloading speed only goin 1 kb/s

I have a DSL connection and Windows XP and my connection is only 0-1kbs all of my bandwidth is commited to it and still it will not download at the right speed. I also have a linksys router. I have already changed the windows firewall to support limewire so please give me some help.

I've got the same problem - using a linksys router with an adsl connection - tried all the port forwarding stuff and its not helped.

When I plug the modem directly into my computer I get proper transfer speeds, yet when I use the router I only get 1KB/sec on limewire, even though d/ling a normal file off the internet works fine, so i'm guessing there's a problem with the router settings somewhere.

Ok found a solution - and it was so damn simple!

On the linksys router setup page go to applications&gaming or port forwarding. Go to DMZ and set it to enable, and put ur ip address in, and thats it!

Where do I find the Linksys home page to change the DMZ?

in your browser's address bar type in 192.168.1.1

leave the username blank and the password is usually admin

go to portforwarding.com to find out about setting a static ip address

when i type this url i get;

We can't find "192.168.1.1"

You can try again by typing the URL in the address bar above.
Or, search the Web:

Don't put the "www." in front of it.You can leave the "http://" or you can just type the number in the blank box. Try it and see if it works:).
