just randomly started making my downloads go slow

so i was downloading songs normally, the way i always do, nothing out of the orinary, and then when i started on one song, it just randomly decided to start downloading at 10-20 kb/s. the file had more than enough hosts and was not a 512kb virus one. Every song i have downloaded (or attempted to) since has gone at the slow 10 to 20 kb speed. non-limewire, online downloads go the same quick speed they always have, but my limewire ones are doing it slowly. i have cable internet and my downloads usually go at or around 200 kb/s on limewire. i have no idea why it just randomly began to do this but i would be much appreciative if anyone could help me figure out the problem. i have filled out what seems to be the usually asked for info below:

1. windows XP
2. antivir guard firewall
3. 512 mb ram
4. 76 GB of space remaining
5. cable connection
6. motorola SB5100 surfboard cable modem
7. loaction: home
8. limewire basic 4.9.37, java 1.4.2_03
9. isp: CableOne
10. using only this computer
11. this is a new problem with an experienced user
12. true on the bug reports incoming thing
13. the magnetmix files you suggest to test are queued, it doesn't work
14. Download Speed: 3087 kbps (385.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 279 kbps (34.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
according to speed tests

I'm fairly sure my firewall is not blocking limewire. I dont have any viruses or spyware on my computer either, so i've run out of ideas. can anybody help?

Could it be possible that your ISP has shaped you..?

It means they can slow your speed down....
My ISP slows my speed down once I reach a certain amount (10gb), I go from cable speed to dial up speed and I cant dl anything its just way to slow and then it justs stops....So if I reach my limit before the months up they shape me....;)

Im not sure even if that is your problem, give your ISP a call and enquire about their service regarding p2p....;)

wondering why, my computer does the same exact thing, and it's a brand new gateway. I too have a 3meg cable internet connection and i have the limewire pro version. I called my cable provider and talked to them about it and they said they do not block any content, they don't care what i DL or how much of it. If anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it also...thanks

Hi Neilrich05, There are so many different possibilities, but if you go to the stickie at the beginning of this forum titled How to configure limewire for optimal performance that may help as it includes all the different aspects of getting fast downloads ;)
