For all of you who have ROUTERS Your solution to slow uploads I haven't come to get help If not to give. The other day I was on these forums because I had 2 to 3 kb downloads Then my path crossed with some thread and some guy(Lord of the Rings) Mentioned port forwarding. I can see that not many people know about this, seeing as the people on my monitor(limewire) list are all uploading at 1 kb. Here's the solutiong you've been waiting for but just can't find: If you have a router, Go to Port Fowarding Thank you to Lord of the Rings Andrew P.S I think this or some other thread with the same topic should be a sticky so that everybody can enjoy the same speed of downloads as Me. |

Also, I'm not entirely clear what "Port Forwarding" is (I read the explanations on the site, but they don't explain "why you would want to do this" or "how it improves your speed" in any detail). While it says it'll improve UPLOAD speed, I'm wondering if this... or a similar technique... is being (ab)used to produce the "share bug" I'm discussing in another thread: "Q: After a few hours, all upload slots are same file. " Hmm. |

the type ipconfig and your ipadress will show It increses your speed to a maximum Its like. Lets say you wanted to send radiowaves through a wall of steel and its working a bit but the tv on the other side is still very blurry, port forwarding would be like making a hole in the wall (a port) so that the tv can get a clear image. |
I went to the above website and typed my IP address into the explorer bar, but it ask me for a user name and password. I was just wondering what password that is? Is it the one I set up with my ISP? I am having trouble with direct connect. I am not behind a firewall so I assume it's the router but I am an idiot when it comes to this stuff... Thanks! :) |
yes its the id and password setup with your isp. If you don't know it call them and ask. If you have a lan connection and you previously had a dialup Then it might be the dialup id and password. Pass the word on to some buddies to make gnutella a faster network Hope this helps, Andrew |
I will be sure to pass the word on. Thanks for the help! I too want to make things faster. I have noticed a difference to the good in the past year or so. |
OK Thanks Goodwork andrew |
