help! I had Bearshare and im used to it but all of a sudden this pop up came up and told me i couldnt use it anymore because of unexpected errors, so i switched to LW but im not used to the search....When i type a name such as M*trix the movie m*trix doesnt pop up all this porn and other types of movies pop up, i give it more detail like rating and year and all but it says i put too much ! when i put enough for it not to rekect it i get the same results can anyone tell me how i can find files with the name i typed ?? thx!!

I also can't use BearShare for the same reason. I tried 3 versions with same result. Do you get the same error as shown below?

For downlding videos, here's some hints:

1. Movie download issues

2. Learn to use Bitzi lookup to see if there's been any user feedback; How to use Bitzi Web Lookup ...

3. You can also preview the file as it's downlding but you can only preview as much as you've downlded already. I'd recommend VLC - (click on link) for previewing. But also be aware that previewing creates a copy inside the incomplete folder called PREVIEW - filename After completed downld, go to incomplete & delete preview files.

5. Ignore files less than 1 MB (1,000 KB) in size. When you click search button in LW, double-click the top of the size column so it shows the largest at the top of the list. This reduces chances of getting confused by the sizes. See Arrange search results by size (click on link)

BTW I did a single search & found it immediately. My search was M*trix - avi
Whilst many people will recommend to use the Video Type search, I just used the Any Type search.

i was searching for L*ttle N*cky i used M*trix as an example ...no my bearshare says sumthn like "an unxepected error has appeared we will get back to you as soon as possible by pressing ok we will paste this problem ok the clipboard" or sumthn like that also why when i search do i get all this filetypes with aother names L*ttle n*cky has nothing to do with *******s!!

Well I searched for both. I only found one for your 2nd video. But there's lots of them. The 1st on the list is mp3 spam. The others below this were asx spam porn.

I did a Bitzi lookup on this file & it appears to be good.

Make sure you check out my links above. They are based on experience of many users. Some tips are to set both your uploads & downlds for auto-clear.Set your Speed to disallow Ultrapeer cabilities. If you do many searches over many hrs - don't allow there to be many rows of search tabs. Delete some of the earlier ones. These tips can help reduce the slowness impact on LW.

As for spam & porn ... well that's the gnutella network not anything to do with LW. This has multiplied over the past 9-10 mths.

Have a view thru this thread autogenerated spam results for tips. And I emphasize, please follow all the tips I left above in my earlier post!!!

Um ... not sure what happened to your attachment. Make sure it fits the criteria of size & format. ie: gif jpg png txt zip bmp jpeg & 102400 bytes (102.4 KB) or less.

But since I can't get BearShare running, I'm not the one to help you. There's others who can help with BS problems. Probably best to post BS problems in the BS sections of the forum.
