![]() Ok I have been using limewire for a long time very succesfully with great download speeds. I was about to purchase the pro version when I noticed my downloads had stopped working, they would start out around 30-50k and drop down to 0k and just sit there for awhile then slowly go back up to 5-7k... this is brutal I'd rather get the viruses and use kazaa if this is the case. I know a lot about pc's, and troubleshooting, I adjusted many settings in my router to no avail, then disconnected the router and tried direct connection with all firewalls turned off, same thing. This has been happening for weeks now and I am very frustrated as no one seems to have a solid answer on what they did to the network on the coding of the new version to cause soooo many people to have troubles that never did before best I've seen as an answer is try downloading a magnet file, tried that same exact thing started off great dropped right off. Also I have 0 viruses on my pc, 0 spyware, I just reinstalled windows fresh, formatted the hard drive, and still checked for virsuses etc and nothing. I use cable modem direct connection, windows XP professional. If anyone has a real answer to this issue please help as I would love nothing more then to buy this program so I can actually make use of the mp3 player I bought and so far has gone to waste because downloads simply just arent worth waiting for. Last thing I also adjusted all the limewire search settings etc to the recommended settings in one the prev posts, and again nothing. Thank you for your time. |

![]() Here's something you can try to test your d/l speed. Go to this site and d/l something http://www.magnetmix.com/audio2.shtml (it's ok they're all legal). Have limewire open, they will d/l onto LW. Check your speed if it is good then your connection is ok. If not then something is blocking LW.

![]() Ok I dont believe my connection has been shaped, because whenever I download on anything other then p2p networks, my speeds are find, 250-450Kbs. I am almost beginning to wonder if Microsoft has done something in their patching to stop p2p cabapilities or severly limit them? like I said I've tried everything I can possibly think of and no success yet. Also I did read on a forum a while back that something to do with new version of limewire regarding firewalls etc. They stated on that forum it would be fixed in the next version but that has yet to happen. The strange thing though is it's not only limewire, shareaza wont even connect for me anymore, ares p2p same thing and when it does connect very limited results and none of the files actually start. At first I was convinced it had to be the router causing troubles but like I said I unhooked the router, turned off all firewalls, scanned for virsuses/spyware and this was right after a clean reinstall of my whole pc. So I am completely lost as to what's going on, I figured whatever the trouble was would be fixed when I formatted my pc, and started fresh but same exact troubles. I am so confused and lost, ready to just pay a darn technician to waste their time to figure it out lol. Thx anyways for the help guys, I guess my days of p2p are over. PS> I did the magnetix.com download, same exact thing started off at a great speed then dropped right off like the rest of the files. |

![]() You can try the .Limewire fix but I doubt that will help your symptoms really sound like your ISP has started blocking or limiting P2P networks. You can try different ports and see if that helps. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420 |

There is software ISPs use to monitor network traffic and they can specify which net ports run at full speed and which ones dont. So, your web surfing and email are as fast as ever ,but your P2P speed is terrible. As more ISPs start adding VOIP to their service, more people will start to have these problems. They want to use the bandwidth for that. I'm gonna start a thread on this forum about this so everyone having this problem can read about the software ISPs use and how it works. It might come in handy so when you call your ISP to complain about this, at least you'll know if they're telling you the truth or not. |
