I download songs and they go in the little limewire folder in itunes.

When I try to play the songs nothing happens.

You don't say if you are on windows or mac ... If you go to this link and follow Lord of the Ring's instructions that should sort you out

The list you see in iTunes is simply a list of your shared files. You need to have the actual files added to the iTunes Library. I hope this helps.
