![]() I'm getting over 500 hits a day on my songs, but no uploads. In the bug reports of my LW the 'incoming session' thing is 'true'. I cannot find my files from other computers with LW, but the hits show up on mine. If I download something else, it will be uploaded from my PC... but still, my files are un-findable. What am I doing wrong? I went to the Magnet site, and I can't find anywhere to 'post' my magnets like I keep reading here in the forum. My setup... Windows 98 LimeWire 4.9.41 Zone Alarm firewall Westell 6100 modem/router DSL not too much hard disk space available, about 1 GB Last edited by ChuckHucklebuck; December 21st, 2005 at 06:29 AM. |

![]() Sounds like your setup is fine . . . thanks for posting the results of the "incoming: true" test and hits. Here is one more check you can run. If you use a Direct Connect Search Type, you can connect to your own computer: just type in your own IP and Port, as shown in the details just above the Direct Connect search box. You can then see what files you are sharing just like anyone else browsing your computer. Re the hits column count: those are recorded whenever *some* of the words in the filename match a search query. So, maybe all those hits are for the "mp3" part of the name, for example. The "Uploads" column is a better count. |

![]() Thanx for the reply, stief, however now I'm trying to figure out what a direct connect search type is. How come I get hits but my stuff doesn't show up when I search for it from a different pc in another location? What could be the reason for that? Thanx in advance, and have a happy holiday, too! ![]() |

![]() here's the link to the detailed thread about Direct Connect http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...direct+connect Searching from another machine may not always show your files, since each machine connects to different parts of the network ("has a different 'horizon'"). I think a search is estimated to reach about 700,000 other computers, but there can be as many as 5 million online. I'm not sure about the numbers, but you get the idea. Happy Holidays to you too, and cheers. |

![]() Okay, so I realized what a Direct Connect search was.... I checked my Limewire (at home) that I'm running my files from, In the direct connect search part it said "If you wan't your friends to connect to you have them type in "xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:6346"....Okay, so I think I'm all set, right? I use a different limewire at a different location (at work) and search the IP I wrote down from my Limewire (at home), and it says "error - cannot browse host". What is going on here? ![]() Interesting. Your home machine can accept incoming gnutella connections, so all is good there. However, when you try to connect from work, there's a block. Perhaps the network admin at work would be able to help explain why the work connection isn't effective. Well, off for the holidays: best to you and yours. |
