Default maximizing my upload

Hi everyone!

Been reading through the forum topics and found a lot of usefull tips. Still I couln't find the answer to my biggest question, so I'll post it here.
I want to maximize my uploads. I would like to share ALL my music. I thought I did this by sharing my main music folder. Still I noticed lots of uploads get comments like: "file not found".
Within my main music folder I've got lots of music tucked away in other folders, mainly sorted by Artist.
My question: could it be that uploaders can't access music that's in folders within folders? And if so: what to do about that?
I've started adding lots of folders to my Sharing File-list, but still see the 'file not found' comments.

Someone have a suggestion how to share all my music?

Tamarindra,

I just joined limewire and was wondering the same thing that you posted here but I don't see any replies to your question. Noticed that it was posted about a 11/2 years ago. Did anyone ever answer your question ?

In my experience, 'file not found' appears when you move your files around. Limewire doesn't know where the file is. Make sure you've added the new location to your list of shared folders. You may need to exit and restart Limewire...otherwise, Limewire may think that the file is in the original location (not sure). You should be able to share folders within folders.

Does this help?

Dan

P.S. good job on searching for the answer yourself.

Just one more quick question on this subject. Is organizing my audio files in seperate folders by artist a good idea or should the files all be in one big folder. Thanks for any help

I don't think it should matter. You should still be able to share all of your files. For example, if you share your 'My Music' folder, and all of your subfolders are in there, you should be sharing all of your files. You can verify this by noting how many files are in the green oval at the bottom of the Limewire interface.

Great, I was just concerned that since there are a lot of searches showing up and so far as I can tell no uploads that I had done something to restrict access. Wanting to to my part and not marked as a freeloader.

Do you have a brick wall in front of the blue globe at the bottom of the Limewire interface? Sometimes there can be a firewall issue, with you capable of downloading, but with uploads restricted.

Do you ever see any activity in the 'Monitor' tab?

Look in the LW library. Each file should have the number of successful downloads and number of download attempts listed (i.e. 17/30).

I am firewalled, monitor tab shows constant searches, under the library tab it shows 0/0. I saw one posting that talked about "pushing" my IP address but didn't say exactly how to do that. Maybe no one wants whats in my shared folder?

If you want to resolve the issue, we will need more information:

If you're sharing anything remotely popular, you should see some upload attempts. If you want to, try downloading something that you know that a lot of people would want. See how it goes.
