Download speed I recently upgraded to LimeWire Pro as it promised lightning download speeds. Since upgrading my download speeds have not changed. I am still downloading at about 14 bps on average. I have Cable modem. Can anyone tell me if there are some settings I need to change in order to get faster downloads.TIA. |
You need to give us more details particularly of your isp's promised speed and your actual connection speed. Also it will help if you understand the difference between kilobits (Kb) and kilobytes (KB) which is a pita and took me months to work out:) look at my first post in this thread http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=49311 to explain the kb KB matter You can do speed tests at many sites, this is one http://www.dslreports.com/stest a number of tests from different sites and at different times of dat should give you a better picture. Whilst pro promises Turbo charged speeds, these are not necessarily higher,... it depends on your own connection speed as well as the speed of the hosts you connect to. You will however get better search results with pro imho. I have a 500 Kb/s connection and whilst I can get 50KB/s speeds, 10-14 is more like an average for me. |
Thanks Hobbo. I'm new at this and finding it a bit hard with my limited knowledge. Thanks for the tip on the difference between KB and Kb. |
