Default Incomplete Files folder location

Hello, I found that I get the "Disk Error" when downloading large files because my Incomplete Files folder is automatically placed in my primary drive, which has very little memory left. Therefore, I want to change the location of the Incomplete Files folder to my a-lot-of-memory drive, but Im not sure how to do that- can anyone help me?

Go to Start/My Computer/D:/ or what ever drive you want your incomplete files to go to/File/New/Folder name it incomplete or whatever you want. Now with LimeWire open go to tools/options/Saving browse to the folder you created and make it your new save file.

I tried to do that already- but I'm pretty sure that that option is for actually saving finished files, not Incomplete Ones. I know this because when I press "Use Default" in the same window it shows C:\Documents and Settings\User\Shared. I just can't find the option to change the default incomplete folder (C:\Program Files\LimeWire\Incomplete Files) to T:\Programs\LimeWire, where my actual limewire program is installed. Perhaps this is a bug in LimeWire.

Default Shared and Incomplete Folder

Grandpa's instructions are correct except for one small point, your "Shared" folder must be in the same directory/folder level as your "Incomplete" folder. Therefore, you have to move both folders to your new "a-lot-of-memory" drive.

When I first started to use LW Pro I had my shared and incomplete folders on my external "I" drive:

I:\Limewire\shared and I:\Limewire\incomplete

I have since moved them to my other external "N" drive:

N:\NewShare\shared and N:\NewShare\incomplete

as you can see, both folders "shared" and incomplete" are always on the same level.

Just follow Grandpa's original instructions and move both folders.

Hope this helps.

Question

Thanks for your help! But.........

I did everything you told me to do, but for some reason the movie that I started downloading turned "red" and started from 798mb again.... Why's that?

And also, when I pressed on "Saved Files" it shows all hte files in the Incomplete files folder, include the download.dat file ...?

Finally, even though I set the "Saved Files" folder to my new drive, everytime I download something it automatically makes a new Incomplete Files folder in c:\Program Files\LimeWire.

Whenever a download is interrupted by certain problems, like a Disk Error or the user you are downloading from has a firewall and has just switched off his machine, your incomplete download will change from black to red. This means your download cannot be resumed from it’s finishing point and will have to start again from 0%.

This “red” thing has happen to me (and others too) many times, it’s just something you have to live with.

PS. You added more to your post while I was typing out my reply.

Anyway, as for the *.dat files, as far as memory serves I believe LW will recreate them but, unless told otherwise, it would not hurt to copy them over to their new folders.

PPS. Aarrgh, you've done it again.

You have to insure that LW knows where your Library, Saved, Shared, etc folders are, which should now be your new drive, nothing should be telling LW to go to your "C" drive for files.

Reboot your PC so that the previous instructions are no longer in your PCs memory, remember windows caches frequently used instructions.

You should now be OK.

Now, I'm going home.

Good Night and happy new year to you.

Thanks, I wish you a happy new year too. However, what Im trying to say is that since I set my "Saved" files folder to T:\Programs\LimeWire\Incomplete, it now shows ALL of the files located in that folder, including the download data, which shouldn't happen.
