I have a Di-Link 504g which doesn't have UPnP abilities but I believe your model does. To find out how to log into it or manually port forward to by-pass the NAT firewall see http://www.portforward.com/english/r...+/Limewire.htm There should be an option there somewhere for UPnP activation. I don't know which section they have it in. I had to manually port forward my device! BTW Cox is not over p2p sharing friendly, see ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire |

more on the firewall advanced in the Advanced section of my in ternet connection there are now 3 items ckecked( i deleted the one's that I had made for gnutella) to try and re in stall them.. didnt work.. they are the msmsgs and the UPnP which when I select edit for the upnp it has the external port 6348 on both .. however the name is wrong it just says UPnP(TCP) and the ip address is DB99P421 I'm thinking I could delete this and start from scratch?? what do you think? bbsnooks |

fire wall If you asked which section i found the value 6348? I found it under LW Tools OPtions - Advanced - Firewall config -Listening port 6348 beneth it says the router config set to use UPnP ... ----------------------------- I rread thru the link you gave me on port forward.. thanks for looking tha t up for me.. and I read thru that and decided I'd wait till my ebay purchases are thru.. cant afford to loose connection wile thats going on the next 2-3 days.. so.. the inistructions said that both computers on the network must be on their own seprate networks.. - so if i use that method does it matter which one I configure first? I decided I need a little more rested to complete the port forward.. so I also googled a port forward for D-Llink and came up with http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.as...rt+forward#604 1) which seems easier.. ?? but would it do the same thing? 2) back to "starting from scratch" in the advance settings of the internet connection.. do I start by deleting the current UPnP item then follow instructions on http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml #10 thru 16 using the OTHER number 3646 please confirm.. thanks deb |
