Slow download speed I recently upgraded both LimeWire (4.8.1 to 4.10.0) and Windows (ME to XP) at the same time. Since this upgrade, I have not been able to download at the same speed I was at before the upgrades. My ISP says they do not limit P2P activity. My download / upload speeds have been tested today at 322 Kbps / 109 Kbps repectively. I have adjusted the sliders in LimeWire so that I am downloading at 36.75 KBps and uploading at 10.13 KBps. I have Norton anti-virus software that permits all with respect to LimeWire. Also, Windows Firewall has been disabled. I was able to acheive download speeds of up to 32 KBps before the upgrades. Now I generally get speeds of about 7 KBps regardless of the number of sources. I was able to witness an upload today of 11 KBps from my computer while I was downloading at 6 KBps. This seems wrong to me. I do realized that I can only download as fast as the source from which I am downloading, but it doesn't seem to matter the speed of the source from which I am downloading, other than modem. All other speeds result in the same download speed for me. It also doesn't matter how many sources I am downloading from after 3 the speed stays the same. I have read several threads on this topic and would greatly appreciate any suggestions that anyone has. |
well downloading is almost always at your max bandwidth cuz u can download from many sceorces untill you reach your max. so the only thing i can think of is go to tools>options>downloads. there you should find a speed adjuster for downloads. im pretty sure that max is default so after that try: tools>options>speed. there you can set L/W for either: dialup, cable, t1, or t3. make sure this is set correctly. other than that i duno what u can do |
