No Ethernet Hits??? Just a quick message.....Just wondering why i don't get any Ethernet hits for my searches? (used to when I had Bell Sympatico High speed [ISP], in fact never had any DL issues with Bell, when using LW or any other Gnutella client) I have the option set for all speeds or whatever....4-5 stars.....blah blah blah. Everyone else I know gets the except me, is this a problem on my end? Also My LW DL's are still crap, incase anyone was paying attention....lol. I have tried Everything possible, and i do mean everything from port #'s to every option that i could possibly try in LW, with all of your help, and yet its still crap. I guess you can add SOURCE CABLE to the ISP's that use bandwidth shaping. One thing puzzles me......I have Norton IS 05, and have allowed LW firewall access. Yet that %^&*ing icon (Enabled Firewall) is always there. And when I try to direct connect it too says that I have a Firewall enabled. My only Firewall is from Norton IS 05. Since I use Win 98. I used to have a program called Freedom, but is was erased from my HD long ago, could something like this or similar be blocking me, or is it my Fantastic ISP (after all the do advertise the fastest Internet in Southern Ontario, hmmmmmm wonder why?????) Anyway enough, talk from me and thanx for listening. Scotty |

Yes I do have a Router....but im not familiar with exactly how it works or how to get it to work with my LW. Guess that would affect Ethernet hits? Actually i use a D-Link DVG-1120 it is a for a VOIP phone. If you know of anyway i can configure it i would be all ears. Thanks Grandpa Maybe i will try my cable modem without the router and see what happens. |

Your router does have a NAT firewall in it the link below wil take you to the page to set up port forward. It does not look like it supports UPnP but I don't know. Make sure you follow all of the instructions. http://www.portforward.com/english/r...M/Limewire.htm |

I have tried this before but i think i may have flubbed a step up..... I get to the part about editing 'local configuration network' but there is no number for the last set of numbers for IP SERVER.....what should this number be. It has to be a number because i cannot leave it blank. I got to this point before and i put a 10 in the blank ie: 192.168.0.10....this made no difference.......not sure if this is even close. heres the part im talking about.... Index 1 Protocol TCP Global Port 6346 Local Port 6346 Server IP 192.168.0. xxx State enabled We will list a series of lines here that will show you exactly how to forward the ports you need to forward. Limewire requires you to forward the 6346 ports. Go ahead and enter the settings shown above into the Local Server Configuration menu. Click the Save button at the bottom of this page to save your changes. Index 2 Protocol UDP Global Port 6346 Local Port 6346 Server IP 192.168.0.xxxx State sorry grandpa, and thx for the help....hope i make some sense..... |

I just did this.... Is my static IP, the IP address I got when i ran the config/all command? If it isn't it doesn't explain how you get a static IP address. ANyway I took the IP Address from the config/all command and used it in both the TCP and UDP indexes in my router setup. LW still DLing about 2-10KB. im pretty sure i did it right. the TCP/ICP is the one for my modem right? I had a choice of 4 and picked that one. then followed all of the steps you have outlined. the others are... 1) Network telesystemP.P.P............ 2) Realtek familty fast ethernet..... ....not exactly as shown.......the other is a dialup which im sure it isn't. I have done all of the steps....one NEW thing Im NOT getting the firewall icon displayed, and it doesn't say that im behind a firewall anymore.....that must be good!!!! Must be doin something right... thanx a million. Last edited by hushtool; January 2nd, 2006 at 08:29 PM. |

Do a speed test and post the results here and if the firewall went away the you did it right. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ |
