File Name Taken? Hi... I'm sure this has been asked but i couldn't find any reference to it. I had an old free version of LW and it use to automatically append a file number to the name when the file name had already been downloaded (1) (2), etc... The new version that I just got doesn't do that, and constantly asks me to forget the file, or rename it. What a pain! Is there a setting that I can tweak to make it automatically rename same-name downloads? TIA //Captain Jerry/ |
Hmmm. Dang, if I knew what version it was, I could get it from oldversions.com... http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=limewire Maybe I'll just have to try them all! Thanks for the response... //Jerry/ |
1 Attachment(s) Not as far as I know. For quite a while if you downlded a file you already had sitting in your downld folder, LW would warn you asking if you wanted to rewrite over the other version. So ... they brought in an option where you can rename the file / change its downld location. Or the Download As ... option. Or are you refering to the LW Library. That option was taken out because people had too many problems using it. It seemed to cause more problems than benefits. BTW any version older than 4 is bad for the network. There's a reason they don't make them still available. And some of the earlier versions will either get automatically banned by some LW or other gnutella hosts, or will if it behaves improperly which is why those versions were taken out of circulation. Ask Only A Hobo what banned host means when LW does it automatically. It's like using a steam train in a pollution free neighborhood (no petroleum vehicles allowed, etc. :D) It's about being responsible. |
Ahhh, okay... Well so much for the old version idea! Can't win 'em all I suppose... //CJ/ |
