Default `Firewall` Help Needed!

Hey, guys! I`m a computing retard so please be kind. Query:

At random points during downloads (specifically with video downloads) I get a pop-up message telling me that I can`t receive the file because either I have no connection to the internet (which is not the case), or a `firewall` is blocking me and denying me access.

I`ve heard of the term `firewall` before but still am not sure entirely what it is. Anway, how can I disable these in order to get files? It keeps happening. And during nearly all of my downloads I see an animated brick wall surrounded by fire indicating what I assume to be a firewall blocking that download.

Any help would be much appreciated. And sorry if I have no idea what I`m talking about or this have been covered a million times. I checked the FAQ`s but no dice.

Cheers!

TenaciousMe,
Have you configured your firewall to allow LW access??

* Make sure you're not running 2 firewalls, they'll interfere with each other

Default Nothing Works

I linked to the Firewall info. and then tried the LimeWire Advanced settings to configure the Firewall settings. It won`t let me. There is a little gray flag icon beside the link. I don`t know what that means.

Adding to the confusion is the fact that I`m using Windows ME, not XP, which nobody seems to produce troubleshooting solutions for. This, coupled with the fact that I`m in Tokyo using a JAPANESE version of ME, is making me quite insane. Downloads are taking forver.

I have a high speed connection. What gives?

Can anyone help?

You need help from the gurus

You could try using search (top right, between faq and home). This'll let you look at old threads. Try to make your search as specific as possible. You might find a few things that help...

Good luck!
