Do you see uploads? Not just incoming searches, but other hosts actually uploading from you in the lower half of your monitor page?

If you go tools > options > bug reports > view example. Scroll down to 'recieved incoming this session' - if it says true then others can upload from you.

Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

For the firewall options in LW, you should have it set to manual port forward & both the connection & listening port should be the same as the port you forwarded the modem; in this case port 6346. When you did the port forwarding did you do "both" UDP & TCP? It's actually better to do a separate port forward for each rather than both together. They both UDP & TCP must be a part of the port forwarding process whether you do them together or separately.

And yes, the Static ip is the most important step of the port forwarding process & you must do it as the very 1st step. Otherwise the next time you connect, it won't work (your ip address will have changed.)

Some modems/routers have a save & reboot option. Did you ensure you saved your settings? Did you reboot the modem? Which brand & model number of modem/router do you have?

Oh I just realised your link (which doesn't work) is pointing to Linksys. Most Linksys devices use UPnP. All you needed to do in the 1st place is enable it. Linksys UPnP setting (click on link) But whether yours supports UPnP depends on model & firmware version of your Linksys device!!! But manual port forward will work fine anyway if you do it properly.

Is setting up the tcp/udp? ( know how now, thx) after or before my static ip address?

I reset everything back to where it previously was (everything).
So far, i set up a static ip address and opened a port (6346) for limewire on my router page.

I clicked on the link you provided me with and it said "Your test worked!"
I set up both TCP/UDP.
My router is linksys wrt54g

Should i click "Use UPnP" or "Manual Port Forward:"
I still see the brick wall on limewire.

The first thing I need to know is did you follow the instructions exactly as they are listed in the link below. And if you have your router set to manual port forward then that is what you should have LimeWire set on also. You should also set LimeWire to listen on the same port you set your router to. If you look at the bottom of the picture you will see what birdy was asking about are others able to upload from you. If your router has UPnP then use UPnP no matter what you set your router for set LimeWire for the same.

If you set your router for UPnP and LimeWire for UPnP then LimeWire will choose the port don't worry if it isn't 6346 LimeWire will choose the best port for it.

Is this step necessary for other p2ps, like Ares?

Yes it is necessary for all of the P2P aps you run they all have there own port. I do not use Port Forward I have used it in the past but I use UPnP as you can tell from the picture above LimeWire and other P2P software work very well with UPnP.

How would I do that for Ares? I dont know what name to type or address...
