Download Results Dont Show! I disabled Windows Firewall and deleted (I think) McAfee SecurityCenter from my computer. But there's still a little icon in the corner that says "Limewire has detected a firewall." Does anyone know how to fix this? |
If you are going through a router it could have a firewall in it. Your ISP could be blocking you. I guess we need a little more Info. Can you give us a total description of your set up: 1. OS version? (Eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Connection type? (Eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your ISP provider? ( AOL/MSN/Comcast/Tiscal) 10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 11. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is. * Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml 12. Do This test, Is the result True/False? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...757#post103757 Is the result True/False 13. Do a speed test post the results here. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ |
Answers to the above questions, sorry it took so long for me to respond: 1. Windows XP 2. Windows Firewall and possibly McAfee Firewall (but I think I deleted it) 3. 512 MB 4. I forget 5. Cable 6. Modem: Motorola SB510 SURFboard Cable Modem Router: Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router 2.4 GHz 54Mbps Model WRT54G 7. At home 8. Limewire 4.10.3 / Java 1.5.0_02 9. I’m pretty sure it’s Comcast 10. No 11. My test worked… I also just did that thing in the link for Windows XP Firewall 12. False 13. Download Speed: 4709 kbps (588.6 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 486 kbps (60.8 KB/sec transfer rate) I'm going to bed after I post this so I won't be able to reply again till tomorrow morning... |
You Linksys router has a firewall in it you will have to either port forward or enable UPnP in the router the link below will take you to the instructions for port forwarding your router make sure you do not skip any steps including setting p a static IP address. http://portforward.com/english/route...G/Limewire.htm |
alright, i'll try it in a little bit |
As Grandpa suggested, you can also configure it using UPnP, see instructions from Step 2 here http://www.panasonic.co.jp/pcc/produ...ys_wrt54g.html |
I did everything that Grandpa said to do, but those search results still don't show. I'm going to try the other link you gave me. |
It still doesn't work! Am I doing something wrong??? |
I see you are not sure who your ISP is you think it is comcast. Do you live in a apartment complex where they provide the Internet. |
I asked my stepdad and its actually Armstrong |
Just curious are you able to get LimeWire on line and do searches and come up with results. |
I can get online and search for music... I click on audio then type the name of a song... when i click search, the search bar on the tab fills up, but the list of results doesnt show. That's the problem. |
1 Attachment(s) OK I am a little confused now which results are not showing up the one's on the left or the one's on the right |
nothing in that pic you showed appears... its just blank even though the little bar in the tab is filling up |
1 Attachment(s) Are you talking about the tab in the picture below. Does it have numbers in it. |
nope, no numbers in the tab... and theres no songs to actually right click and download |
It sounds to me like either a java bug or your LW preferences are up the putt. Try steps 1-3 here Fixes for Limewire But, make a note of all your settings because after deleting your LW prefs folder, you'll need to reset all your options when you re-open LW. It may be worth updating your Java using the "Offline" Java installer. There is a slightly later version of Java than the one you're using. Java 1.5_6 I think. |
ok ill try |
I did those 3 steps, this is what it looks like: http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL681.../125306203.jpg sorry if I didn't explain it clearly before but there's my problem right there |
I still need help! |
could someone please help me out here? |
You have a firewall blocking somewhere but I do not know where we gave you all of the instructions we know of to fix this problem. The only thing I can tell you is go back through the instructions and make sure you did everything correctly. My guess is your router is blocking you although you did say you deleted McAfee you may want to try re installing McAfee then un installing it rather tan deleting it it may still be active. |
alright thanks man |
