Default Download speed

Okay I have done everything that I have read on here with the download speed and configured the router but my download speed went from high down to real low...why is that and if anyone can help me please reply...this just started yesterday

Since you've read all about the problems, you've seen that the download depends on the source, how busy it is, and many such factors when your machine is properly set up.

So, I don't understand your question. . .

The other case is when the ISP throttles your downloads or uploads. Search google for "bandwith caps" to find out more, then check with your ISP's help desk.

Like i said I have done everything to bring up the speed when I am downloading it was between 20 to kb/s now it won't go past 4 kb/s I do have cable and a router and my hubby has configured the router and it still won't up my speed ..this just started yesterday and I am very frustrated that it won't go past 4 kb/s...now we did get a new modem on Friday would that have anything to do with it??

That sounds very sensible.

by "new modem" do you mean a new router? or did your ISP relpace the modem you use to connect to the company?

Your hubby might want to check if the device is "UPnP" enabled

I mean a new isp modem ...sorry about that ...does he still have to check it to see if is ?

Yes, but check too if the new ISP allows full filesharing on the gnutella network, or if they "throttle" or limit filesharing.

okay I just got an email from source cable and they said no they were'nt blocking none of them so how do I check my modem to see if it is uPNP?
