Question dvd format

Hello all, This may seem like a stupid question, but I am having problem downloading movies......Limewire works like a dream, things are downloaded, but I am unsure of what format to use for movies....do I copy .avi for exapmle.....when I burn these onto a dvd+r disk, they do not play on my dvd player, saying it is a wrong format....I am a little bit confused and would love some advice.....What dvd burning software is compatible with limewire for example?

Thanks

The question you should be asking is which DVD burning software is compatible with my domestic DVD player?

Answer: Nero version 6.0 or 7.0

Here is the URL: http://ww2.nero.com/enu/index.html

Hi WW

At a guess I would say no more 30 days, mind you if Nero is feeling scrooge-like it may only be 15 days

Thanks for answering my enquiry.....I use Nero already, that is not the problem....I want to know what format .avi .mpeg quicktime etc is the correct one to copy onto a dvd +disk using nero that should work, as each time I download a movie regardless of the format it states that this format is incompatable....What have people downloaded in the past that has been OK with Nero.....I need to find out if it is Nero or a downloading problem....

I hope this makes a bit more sense

Regards

Admittedly, your query now makes more sense than your previous posting.

However, one small point, you have not said which version of Nero you are using.

Anyway, if you configure Nero properly it is suppose to convert your avi file into a format your domestic player can play. As far as I can remember, you have to check your manual on how to do this because Nero will not do a conversion automatically because it's default settings is to do a straight copy (copy computer file onto new media).

Therefore, you must either go through your manual or go onto Nero's website to show you which settings will convert your avi or whatever files to domestic player readable formats.

Finally, (this may no longer be true but) the only format Nero will not convert is quicktime, I believe there is a licencing issue between Nero and Apple (owners of quicktime).
