Default Downloading Problems... Please Help!!! Very fustrating >:(

LimeWire use to work with no problems before the new update 4.10 came out...... When I start to download a file, it starts downloading at a good speed and then the speed starts to decrease and eventually go to 0 KB/s......then pause at 0 KB/s and then it will say awaiting sources........ The only way I can fully download a file is to sit there and keep pressing resume!!! I think that's totally absurd!!!......... I just wanted to know if anyone else is experiencing this problem!!! Please can someone help me fix this problem!!!

Try deleting the LimeWire preferences folder (while LW's closed). Instructions in here:

There's some more info about dropping speeds here:

I've already tried deleting the folder, but doesn't solve the problem..... When I start to download a file it will go up 25 - 50 KB/s stay there for a bit and then go to 0 KB/s........ and I've even tried playing around with the speeds which does nothing!!! People who upload from me still get Transfer Interrupted...... and I know my firewall has nothing to do with it!!! ......When I download anything from the internet I get like 300 - 500 KB/s...... Some people download from me with no problems...... Where does the problem begin..........So I guess it's other people on how they have their computer set up!!!

Default same problem having to hit resume

I have the same problem with downloads dropping to 0 kbs then eventually having to hit resume every 5 seconds to finally restart, then drops off...whole bunch of 99% files here...not giving up though...

system (new) 3.0 ghz (hyperthread), 1.5 gb ram, xp pro (media), router dlink dl-624, adsl (no throttle back according to isp(telus), (telus claims 1.35 mbs down 750 up ....sometimes actually get that but not usually)....software firewalls ALWAYS disabled for LW, and router upnp no proxy or forwarding required...don't know what else I could tell you all.

Have tried both latest and rolled back to LW pro 4.8.1...latest java and restart old downloads works on restart....well at least they are sitting there connecting for a while then I can start my RESUME

As a later addition and more investigation (having spent the last couple of days reading the forums)....it appears that to "wake up" the download to continue what sometimes seems to help and end the forever connecting state is to re-search the same title or subject search, and hit download on the search results on the files already indicating that they are being downloaded....by the way: running a software packet sniffer and getting way different results from the advanced...dropping packets all the time, and losing address from nodes...but showing no time to live hops...don't understand this unless the nodes are shielded?..?

Thanks I thought I was the only one....... the funny thing is, is that I downloaded this one file from someone and it went to like 50 kb/s and stay there till finish!!! I think it all depends on how people are setup on the other side.... maybe I fluked it off, but not sure!!! I think the new limewire should remove a lot of things like taking out the adjusting of speeds..... have auto resume..... Well if you guys figure anything out please let me know!!!

Default more problems with downloads and system crash

as part of my ongoing trial and error testing method (as any tech will tell you thats th real way to troubleshoot..oops, that didn't work, guess I'll try this....)anyways,...sat watching dl for couple of hours...found that a high number of files reached 100% then went to verifying then locked up at 99%...went back to 97% and downloaded again (automatically...if sources were still available...or ended up waiting in position 1 for long periods of time)periodically hit resume on specific files only,..not groups....found that when file reached 100% and verfifying going on task manager showed limewire #1 mem usuage (peak too) then explorer screaming up...until system semi locks up...one cure was to end task on explorer..let hard drive slow down...no indexing going on, then re-start explorer....explorer comes back up using 16-20 mb ram, then have opportunity to save file (if at 100% of course), until explorer drags down system again...only appears to happen when it is one of these resume files

anybody please let me know if this is too much for a single forum post
