Default download trouble

my download speed is always at 1 kbps or 0kbps, anyone know why? i have disabled my firewall, and still no luck

i have no routers, but a modem.

System:

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002, Service Pack 2

AMD Athlon XP 2000+

1.68 GHz 192MB of RAM

how to i check my ISP address?

My modem connection is 2.2MBps. T1 i think.

my modem internet connection is ISDN channel - Speedtouch USB ADSL PPP

and the Modem type is Thomson Speedtouch 330.

but anymore information you need?

I even disabled the firewall, but no luck

1. After LW's been open for at least 15 mins, do this test: Bug Report instructions & sample image Is the result True/False?

2. Downld a magnet link file from here: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml & tell us what happens. What speeds do you get?

3. Whilst LW is closed, do a speed test. Find one nearest to you here: http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/speedtest/

4. Who is your internet service provider (ISP)?

5. BTW you should not use the internet without a firewall. Instead, configure it to allow LW full passage thru. See Connection problems? Check here first! (XP has its own firewall.)

well when i downloaded the magnet link, it came up at 0kbps and sometimes 1kbps.

ISP: TalkTalk Broadband

from the scan:

Downstream: 1040 KBps(130.0 KB/sec)
Upstream: 246 KBps(30.8 KB/sec)

Downstream Truespeed: 1123 KBps
Upstream Truespeed: 265 KBps

and from the bug report it came back true

You're the 2nd person in hours I've responded to who used TalkTalk. They have the same complaint. ie: TalkTalk shape bandwidth for p2p users. See ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire & see the last link in the 1st post about UK ISP's that filter or block p2p.

BTW if the report came back as true then you're set up well. It's only your ISP that's the problem!

Oh didn't see your late edit until now. What do you do ... put up with the miserly speeds TalkTalk offer you for p2p use or move to another ISP. Either that or make a loud noise at them. Politely of course, but determinedly. Stief is a member here who gave a good example of what he did. I don't have a link to his posting unfortunately. Except it was in response to a post about one of the ISP's listed in that 1st post of the ISP's of the damned. He gave advice about what he did to get his speed back. Perhaps you could send him a pm (personal message) to ask him.
