download speed I have just started using Limewire. For 3 days now I am trying to download but the speed is always between 0-2 KB/s. I have tried some things that I found in the forum but nothing works. I really don't know what to do...Can someone please help me?? |
1) Get DSL/Cable 2) If You Don't Have LimeWire Pro Get it 3) Get an antivirus and scan for viruses 4) Get rid of <b>ALL!!!</b> Junk Files 5) Make Sure Your Internet Connection Is Faster Than Dial-Up you have all these? REINSTALL LIMEWIRE PRO didn't work? RE-INSTALL WINDOWS XP (if you have something other than XP i suggest you upgrade) |
n_dreamer, Read this thread, it has some tips: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...download+speed Try deleting your preferences folder while LW's closed. Instructions here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420 Make sure you're not trying to download too much simultaneously (tools > options > downloads, you can re-set the number of simultaneous downloads & apply). See here for maximising dld/uld success: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=17321 and here for configuring LW for best performance: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=27036 ;) |
Krazeelikebones why would you suggest what you have????/ This is a reply post to another thread today made by you Quote.... Look that's the reason why you should, first of all ALL FILES will be at your desktop, second of all you should have your antivirus be on the look out on your desktop so you have less chance of that virus taking charge, and third of all i know what i am doing please don't think i am just a basic computer noob, i've learned things you would never understand, and just to let you know LimeWire basic is illegal in the government standards as well as bearshare and all the other filesharing programs so you just started forums of illegal stuff, because i've seen people get LimeWire Pro off of LimeWire basic, which disgusts me because they are pirating software they should have not messed with! so if you really think i don't know what i'm doing ask the 100 people who asked for my help on their computers ok? And learn how to spell download! End Quote.... Go somewhere else with your crappy advice.....:D |

Yea, but he probably likes the attention. Probably didn't get enough growing up;). And that avatar:rolleyes:. |
Birdy I read these threads but nothing really helped me.. Maybe it's a problem with my firewall because even if I followed the firewall configuration instructions, when I do the bug report test "received incoming this session" is false.. I have no other firewall except the Windows XP Firewall enabled and I use Antivir PE 6.32 for antivirus protection.I just can't find the problem... |
What's your setup? OS (ok, that's XP) LW & Java version (Help > about LW & it'll tell you) Modem/router brand & model Connection type (cable, dial-up etc) Where you connect from (home, work etc) Firewalls (ok, just XP) There are often internal firewalls in modems/routers so this might be a problem. If your router uses UPnP, make sure it's on in the router & LW (tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Tick 'use UPnP & apply). Info about UPnP & routers etc here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=51357 :) |
I use LW 4.10.5 and Java 2 SDK 1.4.2_08 I use a laptop and the modem included is : SoftV92 Data Fax Modem with SmartCP The problem is that I don't know much about my connection.. It is provided by the student accomodation that I live in, I just connected an Ethernet cable to my laptop and the plug and that was it!So basically I use a local network and share bandwidth with others in this building. The connectivity is said to be of 512 Kbps. |
