No Results!!!!!

I just got LimeWire, and everything has worked fine as far as opening the program and all of my music files were transferred. BUT when I search for a song (by artist OR by song name) I get no results. It doesn't SAY no results, the screen just stays blank. I have a cable modem. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. And it's pretty popular stuff, it's not like anything that would be incredibly hard to find...... Someone help me, please?

Try searching using an Any Type search. Also, try searching Let it be or Imagine & see if you get any results.

I tried it and after 5 minutes "imagine" returned 0 results. It doesn't say "no results" but the box where the name of the search is, gets full, and the results page is just blank. I just tried it again with Let it be...same thing. ??? I want this to work!!

That's an ominous result. It sounds like the problem is your ISP (internet service provider.)

Do you mean numbers of results show up next to the search term, but no results show in the search window? How many numbers of results for example will show up?

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
4. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
5. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
6. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
7. * Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
8. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
9. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
10. Try an experiment; downld a magnet link from this site & tell us what happens: http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml

The number of results is zero. I think it's my computer...I've been having lots of problems lately...I'm getting a laptop in a couple of weeks, I just bought a Linksys Speedbooster router. I have roadrunner cable modem, I use Windows XP. But I took it to Best Buy a LONG time ago b/c I had spyware and it completely took over my computer. They fixed it but ever since I have not beenm able to get on a secure website AT ALL. I can't buy from E-bay, do online shopping of any kind, online banking, etc. I have the latest java, but I had to manually install it b/c of the "secure" problem. So I'm sure this is is just another problem do to my screwed up processor. The laptop that I am getting will prettyt much totally replace this, except to store files. So hopefully it will work on that.
The page that you sent me to, said that "my test worked" and the magnet link went to my download queue but said it needed more sources....So....hmmmm? Thanks a lot for trying to help me. ;)

Sounds like an ISP shaping issue to me. Sounds just like Insight for example!

Zero search results & downlds dropping to zero as you suggested, suggests a definite ISP blocking/filtering of people who use p2p programs. Do you have other isp options?

The magnet link was from a site, not a home user. That suggests the program is being filtered!!! Specifically the program. Otherwise you'd enjoy over 200 KB/s from that site if your bandwidth allowed it.

I forgot to ask, who is your ISP (internet service provider)?

Sarabeth73132 February 11th, 2006 04:58 PM

Roadrunner high speed cable is my ISP. I think it will work when I get my laptop. I really think it's just my computer, b'c I used to be able to do P2P all the time before Best Buy "fixed" it, and ever since then, I've been able to do basic web surfing, but not on secure sites. I also tried to download the new "legal" napster but it wouldn't let me do that either. So HOPEFULLY as soon as my laptop comes in, this will work. The Best Buy guy that I bought it from said VERY OFF THE RECORD...=) that Lime wire was the best. He also "suggested" the if I was interested in "DVD backup" I could google it to find out how, since he couldn't actually tell me with out jeapordizing his job. I know thats off subject, but it was funny at the time.

same problem

I'm having the same problem!! There are so search results--even if I search for something popular. I've tried all types. I've tried troubleshooting and fixing my firewall (although it was never a problem before) and I even tried downloading the pro version. NOTHING. I have used the free version for forever and out of nowhere it just stops working. Any suggestions? I'm dyin' here.

Sarabeth73132 did you recheck your settings since you got your computer back. Such as firewall, network settings, making sure UPnP is enabled, etc. See Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link)

photojunkie21 tell us about your set up.
Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)

3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your isp provider (Internet Service Provider)?
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
