Default Sources

I used to get loads of sources and a d/l speed of over 100 kb/s.
Now i get a maximum of 8 sources and a speed usually around 20 kb/s. Can someone explain what happened here? Maybe a setting got switched or something?

Some days or times are better than others. Try closing LW & re-opening. Perhaps it may improve things. I have also noticed something similar, except if one technique doesn't work then I change my approach. Be that a different type of search or varying the search criteria, etc. Browsing host can sometimes find more sources or improve speeds. Your downld speeds are only as good as the sources are offering. Persistence often pays as the sources may be sharing bandwidth to many others, but as they finish you might get a bigger slice of the pie 'perhaps'.

just one point I would add.

You should only get to download from 8 sourses wth Basic Limewire on Cable/DSL, 10 sourses with Pro. If you've actually been downloading from more simultanously that shouldn't happen, Limewire is disigned not to do it.

You can downld as many files at one time as you like, but simply each one can't downld from more than 8 sources (except for pro.) That helps keep upload slots available for everybody (aka sources.) I've heard a couple of other networks suffer from busy hosts because all their upld slots are taken. If you're patient then those networks should do you well if you don't like Gnutella's architecture.
