WEIRD problem...

LimeWire won't Connect. Period.

Bearshare connects, and searches are successful, but downloads were slow and rare, but after reinstalling, not even searches work.

Installing Morpheus for the first time, it searches successfully, but downloads files from only RARE users - like 1 out of 150... I don't know what they have in common it's ****in WEIRD.

***Windows firewall has exceptions for all of these programs and their ports.

***This problem started when my broadband connection changed from DSL to Coax. BUT there are no speed or connection problems for any other connections. AND the edonkey2000 network works just as well as before changing my connection.

***I've cleaned all spyware / trojans / viri from my PC - as far as I know.

Any ideas? I can't figure it out...

THANKS!

Which network did you switch to?

I have noticed that most cable networks show virtually no respect for users' privacy and rights compared to DSL companies.

Cox Cable.... that's the only conclusion I've had - mainly because bearshare mentions not being able to connect through a proxy server... BUT I can search - I CAN connect to the Gnutella network - and other networks... just not download... and ping and packet-loss tests show good...

Any ideas?

Again, eDonkey2000 works just as well as when I had DSL and all P2P programs worked... So...

WHAT DOES eDonkey2000 DO, THAT THE Gnutella network programs DON'T???

It's what Cox does, not the software. They claim they're not
invading your privacy but then proving it's a lie by blocking
one brand of software but not another, regardless of ports
used. That proves they are actually looking into your traffic
and reading it.

You're stuck with edonkey until you can switch to a better network.

so edonkey works just because they don't give a fukc about it?... are there any other networks that will work through the ****?? - a network with alot more music than Edonkey?

Thanks!

Lessee…

If they have newsgroup servers they're probably not holding
those back. Search for groups that have MP3 in their names.

Shareaza has a network of their own, and Cox might not be
blocking it.

BitTorrent might be blocked, but it can be fast when it does
work. Azureus is the best client for that.

Blocks on any type of P2P may be temporary, some ISPs
move them around every couple of weeks to places with the
most traffic. Keep trying all of them because they almost
never block them all at the same time.

To an uneducated ISP ex-employee, that sounds like educated advice... I'll make use of it. Thanks Alot.
