I realize this issue is been discussed repeatedly but Im a new user. I have Starband satellite. My usual downloads are 750. On Limewire Im only getting 1 or less. If this is all I can expect can I get a refund by calling the billing company?

You might want to read this, there's a reference to Starband

Here's some info about maximising down/upload success

Don't forget that download speeds also depend on the host you're downloading from & their speed, setup etc.

LimeWire has a no refund policy, simply because the basic version is offered for free & can be used for unlimited time. If the user decides to pay for pro, that's their choice

I had this same problem with dc++, I figured it was their program but now Im thinking it's because I have satellite. I looked at your reference before I sent out the first note and tried all those things but to no avail. Im going over to a friends house next week who has cable and I'll take my laptop and try that. I was charged 24$ for a lifetime membership not for pro and also $9 for spyware that I didn't request. If you think this was a con please let me know and I'll file a fraud complaint with my card company. If it works with cable than I'll know what the problem is. I'll let you know and thank you for your help.

Yes, it was a scam. LW basic is free & Pro costs US$18.88 for 6 months of updates & email support. There's no lifetime membership & no extra software given.

You should contact your bank/CC company & report it, with luck you'll ba able to get your money back. Just watch your statements, make sure no extra payments come out!

Here's some info about these scams
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=28751

If you want a good, free spyware removal program then get Spybot. I'd remove the scam spyware pgm, it's probably crap & might cause problems when you try & use your comp

* You should probably get rid of the scam LW...it might have add/spyware in it. The only place to get a clean version is
www.limewire.com

Thanks for the info
I disputed the claim, they were a bogus site. I uninstalled and reinstalled from you web site.
I went to a hotel and used their cable hook up and got some pretty decent download speeds. Worked fine.
Appears that Starband satellite is the issue. Don't know if all satellites have this issue or just the one I use.
Don't mind forking up some dough for the pro since I see it can work and I spend a bit of time out of town.
Thanks again.
