Default Limewire not saving

Limewire saved downloaded files perfectly to begin with. Then it began refusing to send them to the designated folder, sending them to the Library instead. Now it's refusing to send them anywhere: so far as I can see, they're just vanishing. Why is this happening, and what can be done to cure it? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but this made no difference.

Go to tools >options > saving & make sure you have the right folder entered as your destination for downloads. If you need to change it, make sure to press apply to save the change. In your library, click on Saved Files & then Explore. This will open up your saved folder. Are they there?

You can try deleting your preferences folder, there are instructions here

Otherwise, do a search of your computer. Just look for one of the file names.

The only time files should vanish is if you delete them

Default zxcvbnm

Having Pro won't help with saving downloads. The only differences are that Pro will let you connect to 5 ultrapeers (instead of 3) and download from 10 hosts (instead of 8). Hence the potential for faster downloads.

Please don't direct other people to scam sites. These scam versions often come with added extras, such as a bit of spyware & a dash of adware

That's not one of LW's official web sites. There's only one. It's www.limewire.com Reinstalling any version will reset your preferences. So will deleting the prefs folder.

Did you buy LW & get sent to that page to download ( before, you said you got it for free)? It's still a scam.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've discovered something that strikes me as really weird. As I said, the saved files aren't showing up in the designated folder. But when I <search> the missing file, it shows up, and WITH THE ADDRESS OF THE DESIGNATED FOLDER. And I can copy it manually from <search results> to that folder. When I do so, I don't get the 'this folder already contains...' message. I don't understand how this is logically possible. How can the file be in the folder I'm copying from and not in the folder I'm pasting to when these are in fact the same folder? Someone please make sense of this.

Please someone come up with an idea. Let's focus on one aspect of the problem. Anyone know how <search results> can come up with a false address (i.e. the file isn't there)?
