Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. What is the speed of the person you are downloading the movies from? If you chose someone who shows modem alot of times it will be slower then someone who has a T3 or higher beside it. What is your download speed of limewire set at? Take me for example, I have been downloading a file for 3 days now. But I am on dialup and very slow. I try to download from people who have high settings. Not sure about the porn, but my opinion is that the reason it downloads so fast is because it is usually just a small trailor or version of a film. therefore it isn't very large and doesn't take long to download. I am sorry I couldn't be of more help. Hopefully someone can help you more. good luck, moe |

well, thanks, moe2006, for your reply... It took me some time to come back to this forum, since safari pretended not to find the address!... after few trials, I finally tried to disconnect PeerGuardian, and it works now... I wonder why that app did prevent me to come here, I even thought knowing the actual sit, that may be Gnutella/LimeWire had been shut!... anyways, it works now. So to come back to your suggestion, well, I don't think it could be the reason... low Download speed, or even, very low, OK, but NO DL... I'd tried anyways just now, to download a film from a high geared host (T3HDSL). and it went so: connection, started to DL 12ko/s (2 hosts) for few secs (not enough to get over the 0% though), busy hosts, need of other sources, waiting for data (300s) connection, failed... Exactly what I had on the other previous trials (still waiting for DL since more then a month). Those still long time waiting films, are all of them, from cable ADSL 350/999 (like me). The programms I tried to dl where the same, and as for the porns, I don't remenber, since I din't really choose, but clicked at random. Thanks any way for trying to help. |

dsoslglece Just re your PeerGuardian... if you have blocked http then you'll find it impossible to get to the forum. If you allow http, it will be a different story Otherwise, you'll have to disable PG every time you want to come here. Such a pain! |

Thanks birdy, I wouldn't mind to re PG, but now, I would also like anyways to be shure first that he's doing not only hes job, but also the job of the default Mac firewall, since it appears that he does put it of when he installs him self (I didn't know that, but LM tells me some time that it doesn't detect a fire wall... and, when PeeGuardian is on post, The system pref pannel tells me that the Fire Wall is of, since there is another one on)... apart of that, how do you choose what to let in or out with PG, since there is no interface, and it's sort of hidden in different places (mostly, lib/app support, and lib/startupItems)... is there a way to open one of those files (he works directly in the terminal), and to add or remove some data ?... and, if I succed in so doing, since he's updating every 12 hrs, wouldn't I have to start each time changing his lists?... I know, it would be a pain (I wouldn't say where) to have to install and de-install each time to go to the forum, but not more then to have to include every 12 hrs an authorization for http... but wait a minute, thinking of it now, how should it block only gnutella forum, and none of the others: eDonkey, Macjunkie, etc... they are, all of them http, with no mention even of my mail box, and I aint no prob with'hem! Thanks anyway. |

Hi! First of all, you shouldn't have to be uninstalling/reinstalling PG if you want to get onto the forum while keeping http blocked. If you right click on the PG icon in your system tray you can just disable it (the icon will turn red) . Then, when you are off the forum, enable it again (the icon turns blue & it's back to being a sentinel again!) I can't help you with some of your questions, I don't use a Mac (I have the other OS... gag, spit...Windo$e). If LimeWire is telling you that it doesn't detect a firewall, this is a good thing! If LW detects a firewall, it's something that is stopping LW from working properly. Like a software firewall that's not set up properly, or a firewall within a modem or router. You can choose to log/show allowed connections in PG but you can't choose to adjust it's own list of IP addresses to block (as far as I know). It has it's own lists of IPs to block & it will block all of those known IP addresses. I don't know why it would block the LW forum & not other http sites I hope I haven't confused you too much! |

Download problem Thank you, only a hoboe (me, I am only a hviolinist)... I did allready post a new thread few days ago, following your advice. the problem of download is just as bad, and I didn't DL one single byte since weeks now... concerning the JAP apparatus, it works well for surfing, completely anonymously, I even did the test at <http://assiste.free.fr/> which was only able to localise the first servers address, believing it was mine, or at least, that I was inside a circle of 40km of that server (He's in germany!)... but inspite of what I thought, it is not working with L.W. and the trafic I saw passing, was only my searches going out... and there was no real communication established ... I even read in JAPs FAQs that they don't pass peer2peer connections or emails... so that is fixed... but anyways I had been connected (or trying to) through it only all together 4 or 5 hours... now, I remade my config, every thing goes OK through the build in Fire wall (which is now unnoticed by LW)... Up load is very alive like allways, I fixed at 5 the maximum simultaneous upLoaders, and they are up loading continuously, with a long queue waiting... but no download... I've at the moment 8 downloads waiting for weeks (5 or 6 now!) each one at zero%... and which continuously are passing the all cycle of connecting, more sources..., waiting for..., connecting, and some time busy hosts, but, anyways finaly ending on awaiting sources... At the moment, I'm trying to DL 9 things : 3 rather well known old westerns (from the sixties), 3 mp3 with a soloist I know (from 4000 to 7000 kb), rare it is true since good music is always rare on the net,but I should be allowed (even if after a long wait) to have access to that host, then, there is a well known Agatha Christie which should normaly give no problem... hey! Wai'a minut!... just at this instant, since 6 weeks, one of the films starts to DL at a rate of 40kb... its already at 2% what happens !... I shurely will not complain about it inspite of making me look a bit silly... just I'd like to understand though, wha's the matter!... And, as for the last thing... well Just looking once more at it, I find just my self looking even more silly, since (the first time in weeks) that also seems to work now... it was the question of advantaging my music file uploading, and for doing that, I reduced the film proposals to only 3, but it seemed always to be thoses films to have priority over the mp3 (and I know, that for instance on eDonkey's net, there is now quite a good rate of uploads from all those live concerts I'm proposing... and, just now, first time since weeks, one moviment is just busy going away... So, I hope it'll continue that way... I really hope so, since now the dL has stop at 4%... maybe it'll start again ... in another 6 weeks... |

dsoslglece One thing to remember if you are choosing things that do not have allot of sources it can take forever to DL them. I had a movie take a little over a year one time. Apparently the only person that had it was a shareza user and that user and I would only cross paths when they had an available slot on rare occasions. Then I would only DL at 2 to 3KB/s I would get between 1% and 5% of the file each session. I currently have 5 files that I have been working on for several months and they are between 1% and 70% these files appear to only have 1 or 2 host that have them. Now if I choose newer popular files I can DL a 700MB file in about 1 hr. So the problem you are having is not uncommon on rarer files which from your description is what you are trying to download. The only advice I can give you is to do manual searches for them occasionally and every once in a while high light them and click on find sources. Don't forget that the people that have the files you are trying to DL are probably sharing other files also and the odds are there Q is full so it is basically a crap shoot once in a while you may connect but most of the time you won't. |

re-Grandpa hello, Granpa, and thanks for the advice, I discovered only today your post... well I know what you mean with those slow files... I wonder in fact why it is so different from one net to another... because, those same files (they seem to be the only ones I've got some interest for !) are much better represented on for instance overnet, that why I use mostly LimeWire for uploading my concerts (that music, seems to upload faster on LM !), and to have something to download too, I just put one old film on download (at the moment from Pagnol, 1% in twoo weeks, on the first day)... all my downloads are in fact made with the donkey, the same films which are about unobtainable here... and they just need from 3 to 4 days, but I download maybe 30 or 40 together, so every days or second day, there is something finished... So, I'm just patiently waiting, maybe in the futur, Gnutella will also have more interesting files to present (on more then 1 location). |
