Does "Maximizing .." sticky need to be updated??

Ok, I am getting no uploads, so I search the FAQ etc. etc. trying to find an answer. I start to read the sticky post about maximizing your downloads/uploads.. I get to the part about "forcing" your IP, and I start looking everywhere for a button to let me force my IP. This is after wading through 8 or 9 pages of you-know-what.

Finally I come to the conclusion that there is no button to check anymore. It would have been nice to know that before I wasted all that time looking for it! Anyway, I am back to square one and I really don't feel like reading the whole 30 pages of that sticky note. So my suggestion is to remove any obsolete information that is in it (if there is any) and perhaps shorten it to a managable length so old ladies like me can read it in the span of an evening.

I believe I have correctly forwarded the port, and I am no longer seeing the firewall symbol. What more do I need to do to share my many files?

I would be so grateful for some help.

Thanks :)

Some of that info is a bit outdated, as LW has changed a lot since then:) But... there might still be people out there who use the very old versions, so this info may be invaluable to them!

Within LW, go tools > options > bug reports > view example. Now scroll down to "recieved incoming this session"... is it true or false? If it's false, there's a firewall problem somewhere.

True

Thanks for your reply.

It says "true." I don't know what the problem could be. I have over 700 files shared, and I have had Limewire open for several hours, so it seems like somebody should have downloaded something by now, lol!

Go into your LW library, look in your shared files. Are there any figures in the Uploads column (left side is successful uploads, right side is attempted uploads)? Sometimes, if you're just watching the monitor window every now & then, you'll miss some uploads:)

**Just check that you have upload slots open. Tools > options > uploads > basic. If there are no slots open, no-one can upload! Apply after making any changes.

There are plenty of hits, but under Uploads they all say 0/0.

Under Options - Uploads - Basic
bandwidth is 100% and partial sharing is checked.

Under Options - Uploads - Slots
3 uploads per person
20 Max upload slots

Is this correct?

Thank you :)

Unless you have a really fast connection, you might want to reduce your number of upload slots a little! I have 3 open (2 uploads per person) with a T1 connection, means that people can get uploads of 10-15 KB/s.

It's up to you though, but I think 20 is too many. If you're not firewalled & your incoming is true then I don't know why you're not seeing uploads:confused:

The Link below might help explaine it.

Ok, I changed the number of upload slots (just in case one day I ever have some uploads, lol). Thanks for telling me that, and thanks for trying to help :)
