Limewire vs. School policy Hi everyone Recently, my college has declared a war against p2p sharing. Since the declaration, Limewire searches are empty. The Quality varies between poor and good, but even when it reaches excellent the dl speed is 1 kb at best (searches only turn up results when it hits excellent). I've tried forcing and changing the port (which didn't work, and websites load up fast enough that it probably wasn't a reduction in internet speed. Any advice is solicited... thanks |

Schools & p2p Your school is obviously shaping. Here's an example of how a p2p bandwidth shaper can work against Gnutella: Bandwidth Shaper Sample - typical of how some schools use it (click on link) ie: giving priority to net surfing & low priorities to p2p sharing. A proxy is an option, but Only A Hobo's suggestion is the wisest. You don't want to get into trouble with your school. Going against their rules could get you expelled! |
