Ok there is nothing blocking you. So the odds are your isp has started blocking or shaping. The link below may be of some help the first thing I would try is different ports. There is a chance I am wrong you might want to try the .limewire fix in the second link first and maybe uninstalling and re installing Java. But I doubt it will do any good.

So, what would you do if you do have that? I don't have to disable my firewalls do I?

No, But you have to configure your firewall so limewire has permission to access the Internet. The link below may help.

I've done the things said here. I had the brick over the globe, but after shutting down Zonealarm, it's gone. I enabled Windows firewall and configured it as it says on the limewire page.

1. OS version? (Eg: Windows 98) Windows XP

2. What firewalls you have? Zonealarm (now disabled) and Windows firewall (now enabled)

3. How much ram? 382mb

4. Hard Disk space available? 8+gigs

5. Connection type? DSL

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Siemens Speedstream 4200

7. Where are you trying to connect from? Home

8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? 4.10.9 & 1.5.0_06

9. Who is your ISP provider? Altell

10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No

11. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ 'Your test worked!'

* Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access Yes

12. Do This test, Is the result True/False? True

13. Do a speed test post the results here. 672 d/l 311 u/l

Any advice would be greatly appriecaited! I've unistalled it, deleted everything I could find to do with Limewire (even in hidden folders), and reinstalled it twice. This is about to drive me to drinking!!

morninglory

I was looking over your post and I noticed I made a mistake your answer to #12 was False, This means you are being blocked. I checked on your SpeedStream modem it has a Firewall in it. The link below has instructions for setting up the firewall.

I think your reply was for morninglory..or else I'm just confused again! Anyhow, I read more at the forum and discovered FrostWire. I d/l it, and it seems to be working for now.

But thanks for taking the time to look into it and answer
