slow DL speed (15KB/s) My DL speed can't accelerate more than 15KB/s and my internet connection i can download about 37KB/s. What is wrong with my pc??? - I use a VPN to connect to internet windows XP SP2 please help me!! |
But it happens with others programs like frostwire, e-mule, bittorrent, shareaza... |
Download a magnet link from here & tell us what happens & what speeds you get http://www.magnetmix.com/video.shtml |
it didn't help.. the speed is still at 15KB/s |
That doesn't sound good at all!!! It could well be an isp secretly shaping p2p bandwidth use. Do a speed test whilst LW is closed & post your results. Here's some to try (try more than one): 1. Choose nearest location for a speed test & only have your browser open: http://www.t1shopper.com/tools/speedtest/ 2. http://specials.zdnet.co.uk/misc/ban...eedtest50.html 3. http://www.adslguide.org.uk/tools/speedtest.asp 4. http://www.broadbandreports.com/stest *** Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? (BTW some of these tests quote speeds in kbps & not KB/s. So divide the figure by 8 to get KB/s) ;) |
my speed is aparently normal... i did the tests and the result is about 285-300Kbps (35-37KB/s) and did a download on internet to test i got ~35KB/s My ISP is from Rio de Janeiro-Brazil |
Hmm well it seems they may be shaping your p2p use. That magnet link can potentially get over 200 KB/s to downld if you can achieve that speed. This may make no difference but try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) |
i deleted the LW preferences but my download is still slow and i tryied to download from a magnet link but is still the same |
can any one help me?? |
Try changing your port to one between 49152 - 65535? Go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & changing listening port to one suggested. Perhaps try 65530 or 64049. You would need to press apply button, go to File>Disconnect, wait a minute, then File>Connect. |
